Was it due to a weighted shifter? Inquiring minds want to know.. I answer: No, but I have worn out a transmission on the race car. The input shaft bearings wore out to the point where the noise suggested imminent failure. This is a fairly common failure mode. Of course, if I had bothered to change the fluid more often, and had run something a little thicker than ATF I probably would have gotten a lot more mileage out of it... Shane K. I found a company (http://www.zdmak.com) that sells a great set of water pump tools for a reasonable price. I've tried the bicycle wrench and big screw driver. While they do work with some effort; they can fail to do the job on a stubborn pump/fan clutch. This happened recently on my car. I cound't get enough leverage with the big screw driver and bicycle wrench and after banging my hands several times, I went to the web and found this place. I have no affiliation, except that I'm a satisfied customer. What I couldn't do in multiple banged knuckles and a stream of sweat, I was able to do in 30 seconds with the right tools. (http://www.zdmak.com/wbstore/main.asp?LowCt=0&action=cat&cat=BMW%20TOOLS) Search for "water pump". They have a holder and wrench combo for $39.00. On the other hand, I have had hell with my E30 M3 with aftermarket glass. It didn't fit correctly and the only windsheild that did, at least in my E30 M3 was factory. The tire was too tall and the wheel a bit too wide (with the tire combination) to fit on my mostly street driven '99 M3. Please make an offer. Thanks, Chester
