The lights remained on because the brake pedal was not depressing the switch. 20 mins later, a wrench, a dab of loctite and the tailgaters were back in business (people tend to keep their distance when your brakelights are always on). Case closed. Stash this one in the archives. #3. Source for E30 seatbelt receptacles? - from Scott Spangenberg

I am putting Recard SRD seats in my '95 M3 with TC Kline brackets. The pre-tensioners on the stock seatbelt receptacles won't transplant easily to the new setup. I recall discussion on this list about using E30 receptacles. Can somebody confirm that this does in fact work? Is there a good source for a pair of E30 seatbelt receptacles? I already bought 100-ohm resistors to keep the air bag computer happy :-) I just jumper the two outer pins on the plug, right? -Scott Spangenberg -95 Avus M3, Track and Summer car -98 Neon ACR, Autox and Winter car -88 Mustang, CP Autox car (2006, maybe!) -05 F150, Girlfriend's & parts go-getter __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? If they are then I'm sure there's a plethora of E30s at junk yards that I'm sure you can score a pair from. I'd try Zionsville (IN), Double 02 salvage (Cali), or Bodywerks (Detroit). I have some but I'm not letting them go until I finalize my car plans, could be a while. :-) Carlos.

#5. OT - Garage Sizes, Home Car Lifts - from Avedis, Alexander (US SSA)

Date: Mon, 23 May 2005 13:23:14 -0400 From: "Avedis, Alexander (US SSA)" <alexander.avedis@baesystems.com> Subject: OT - Garage Sizes, Home Car Lifts I forwarded the thread on garage configurations and lighting to Steve D'Gerolamo of The Ultimate Garage and he has a few suggestions as well as a link I thought the list might be interested in. Alex Avedis 1998 M3/4 74k miles Here are a few suggestions for the people below.......... Forget metal halide lighting. Despite downsizing some of the fixtures and using smaller lamps, you still need good ceiling height (12' + ) for these and there's the restrike issue and hum issues. For a home garage, T8 (48") fluorescent are best complemented with some low voltage halogens (PAR lamps have long filaments and are subject to annoying vibrations). Indirect lighting works great too and T5-HO fluorescent are great here. As far as electric goes, run a feed to the garage for at 60-100 amp sub panel. All of your outlets, AC and other needs can easily be wired off this sub panel. For flooring, epoxy works best in a shop environment. For a garage door, go with a 2" thick polyurethane filled (not polystyrene) door for best R-values. For wall treatments, FRP is a tough surface, easy to clean and runs $20-25 for a 4x8' sheet at Home Depot. http://www.ultimategarage.com/UltGar2y-large.html . Steve D Date: Thu, 19 May 2005 17:31:12 -0700 (PDT) From: David Bauer <dbauer@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] OT - Garage Sizes, Home Car Lifts Hi Jonathan, Well I've made it 9 years with both cars in my 2 car garage but I could only do it with lots of wall storage and easy access to the attic. I'm having a new house built myself and I'm going to 3 cars because it wasn't too much more to do it. I want to have a dedicated repair/work area that I can leave unfinished projects and still get the cars back in. As far as dimensions go I would have to favor width so that I can use the side walls for storage plus have plenty of room to open the longer doors of coupes. For my garage I am having it wired for a separate light circuit with metal halide lights (lots of watts and nice white light). I'm having it roughed out for a utility sink and 220 outlets for a welder and lift. The air compressor will probably go in the attic with external lines run to various spots in the garage. I'm also having outlets put in the ceiling for pull down extension cords between the bays. Lastly I am having it fully insulated (insulated doors too) so that I can install air conditioning later on. I've looked at lots of small lifts but the big drawback is most don't allow access to the driveline and I want to be able to pull the tranny. The lift at the top of my list is the Bend-pak P6, it runs about $1,800 http://www.bendpak.com/product_info.isg?products_id=764 The main dilemma I have is with the flooring. I can't decide between Race Deck tiles or epoxy paint. The tiles are nice but expensive, epoxy much cheaper but I worry about durability. Hopefully others have input in this regard. Any recommended shops to do this work in the SF Bay Area? Thanks. Lew Becker

It's not the prettiest car (has had mediocre body work, non-enthusiast owned, and the interior was poorly taken care of) but it's got a clean title and a relatively new engine. Manual transmission, 115k miles. Selling for $9500 firm. That's all I know, email me and I'll provide the phone number to call. It's located in the East SF Bay Area, CA.
