Date: Tue, 24 May 2005 09:09:39 -0700 From: John Hoffner <jhoffner@gcfinc.com> Subject: brake circuit failure I have a 95 M3 that the brake circuit failure light is coming on and the lights are working fine. Is there a way to check the switch at the peddle? Are there other things I can check? Thanks, John Hoffner

#2. A/F Ratio Meter - from Steve Klein
Top
Date: Tue, 24 May 2005 12:28:13 -0500 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: A/F Ratio Meter I stumbled across this article from Pelican Parts on building an A/F meter, and it mentions being able to tap into the existing O2 sensor for the signal. Has anyone done this? From the schematic given and the wiring diagram in Bentley, I'd guess that you'd tap into the Yel signal wire from the sensor for the pin 5 input, but would the addition of this circuit change the signal ouput to the ECU? Querying minds want to know. Steve http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/techarticles/Borrowed/ mult_air_fuel_monitor.htm

Sounds like your's is bad :-) Might as well replace it, it's a $20-$30 part IIRC. Cheers, Jim Bassett

[btw, suzy i could donate some of my time to creating a better archive search if you're interested...] Anyone know of a good E46 M3 resource that approaches the quality of this list? All the web-based forums I've found are full of bling-bling street racer kids. Nothing against spoiled brats, but their wealth typically does not manifest itself in the form of knowledge. Anyone? Thanks! -zs (taking delivery of an '05 M3 ZCP in 10 days)

Dunno about the quality, but there's one here: http://www.bimmers.com/e46m3/members.html Hosted/run by Filippo Morelli, who also handles the Club Racing email list. > Nothing against spoiled brats, <snork> > but their wealth > typically does not manifest itself in the form of > knowledge. <shock> :-) Jim Bassett

Easy install: http://www.geocities.com/karlkarlb/brakeswitch.html Not sure if you need the 2 or 4 pole switch though, I needed the 4 pole for my 1997. ted

Neat article but I question the usefulness of such a device. OK I added one to my E30 and that's why I question it. All you're basically doing is monitoring your o2 sensor and it behaves exactly as you would expect. Takes a few seconds to get a signal as it heats up, then it'll dither back and forth and it does the same under partial throttle. It goes to rich under WOT and it leans out when you're off the throttle. I guess perhaps if your car has a misfire it may act differently but to me it was a waste, you can feel ignition misfires yourself. A wide lambda oxygen sensor setup IMO would tell you more and could be used as a tuning tool. Better yet that and an EGT gauge monitoring all 6 cylinders like in an airplane. :-) Carlos.

Does anyone know if the Dinan S3 supercharger package is smog legal in CA? I am looking at a car out in IL with this and unsure if I will have issues with passing smog in CA. I guess it would need an EO# to be legal - anyone know? Scott
