Date: Wed, 1 Jun 2005 15:52:24 EDT From: Kallay@aol.com Subject: RE: P1250 Code??? Hello Everyone, I wonder if anyone can help me with this specific OBD II code. My Supercharged 98 m3 continues to throw codes P0306 (misfire on Cyl 6) and this P1250 code. The car has been to the dealership 2 times. They have a total of 30 hrs. trying to find the misfire at Cyl 6?? It only happens if the idle drops below 1000 rpm. Turn off the key.Restart and the misfire clears up?? The code remains.?? New Plugs New Coils New injectors New ECU New Oxygen sensors new Fuel Filter They cannot identify the P1250 code. Soon I will have spent enough $$ for a new E46 M3. I am pivcking the car up. unfixed. Any help would be appreciated.:) Thanks Tom Kallay 98 Dinan Supercharged M3

Naive comment here - but it seems just wrong that they would charge you for 30 hours labor and give you back your car in the same state that you gave it them in. Have they discussed your car with a tech at Dinan? Wishing you good luck. Date: Wed, 01 Jun 2005 23:35:53 -0700 From: Scott M <smlists@pacbell.net> Subject: drove a Legacy GT Wagon today And was very impress with it. Ride was a perfect balance of comfort and road feel - very supple. Quiet. Motor made really good torque and throttle response - turbo must be a lot smaller than in the STi. But is only down 50hp and weighs about the same. AWD worked nicely - I took a corner hard and was able to use the throttle to finish steering the car through - could really feel the fronts pull the car. Grip was amazing. Comes with 215/45/17 tires which sound small, but work well with all 4 wheels under power. Specs I've read are 0-60 in 5.8 and 1/4 in 14.2 which is about the same as a stock E36 M3. Drivers feel is not nearly as perfect as the M, but quite good - better than the Mazda 6 which isn't bad either - in fact better than the Protege which I put above the 6 (my wife has a Protege5). Over-all the car would be a better daily driver for my needs than an E36 M3. Larger - more room in the rear for adult passengers for business use. Bike can go inside or up on the roof rack. Dog can come with in the back. This would be a great car for a 1-2 person ski or bike trip too, put all the seats down for the gear - skis can fit inside even. And with the racks I could see using my RocketBox and using it for some of our family vacations too, although often if we are bringing a bunch of coolers and bikes the big SUV will still be called upon. But I can really see the utility of this car for me. But the car will not be my soul stirrer. So only way to go that route is to add 1 car to the mix as my pure street toy. Need to sweet talk the wife on that one - she has long maintained a 4-car limit. How do I convince her that HER car that we added 2 years ago was the 5th and I have been down a car every since? :-) See, she used to drive the SUV, but with her logging 20K miles / year that made no sense to be paying for 13mpg, so we got her a car to double that. And now I drive the SUV. But she doesn't care what she drives - I DO!! From day one when we were married I had 2 toys plus a sedan daily driver / business car. Now I still have 2 toys but I am combining the SUV with the sedan. That doesn't work for me. I need my 2 toys plus a sedan. And btw - we still need the SUV and it makes no sense for her to drive that anymore due to gas costs. So the only way to resolve this is to go to 5 cars, right? Right? right?.... Somehow I don't think she is gonna see the logic there, but I'll give it a shot.... Scott

It has a boiling point greater than 500F which, while not the ideal 600+, its better than the stock stuff that the M3 came with and will work just fine. -- Walter

But then I also don't need a track car as I do have a 500hp C4 race car. I would be in the market for a $20K street toy - basically the idea is to split the value of the Z06 into a daily driver plus a street toy. Just for clarification: 2004 Z06 - current street toy 2004 Nissan Armada - doubles as my truck and business sedan / daily driver 1991 Corvette - road race car 2003 Mazda Protege5 - wife's car Bottom 3 stay, the Z06 is on the block. The two dualing themes I am considering are: 1. E36 M3 to double as daily driver and street toy Armada - truck / family uses and business sedan road race Corvette Mazda for wife 2. Suby Legacy GT Sedan - daily driver + business sedan Street toy - worth ~$20K Armada - truck / family use road race Corvette Mazda for wife I originally was leaning towards item 1, but after driving the Suby I see many useful benefits in such a car vs. the M3, but it would not cure my need for a street toy sports car. But I am sure I could do something fun and interesting for $20K - maybe another vette, or even an E36 M3 coupe, or maybe something else - could even go for a S2K, but I may miss having something with some torque, so still leaning towards a vette for that reason. But theme 2 adds 1 car to the mix, something the wife has previously frowned upon. Maybe in this case I can talk her out of that position, maybe not. We have 4 garage spots and I have no problem leaving the Suby in the driveway, we have a huge driveway that is sloped so not like the kids play there or it impacts anything in any way having a car there. We are about the only house on the block that put all the cars away at night. She has a fundamental issue against 5 cars for 2 drivers - says there is no reason for it, etc. But maybe since one is a race car and not a registered street car I can talk her out of that position. Or maybe not. I could also make the argument there is also no good reason for owning a $40K sports car that is driven once a week either, but I do. There is no logic to this hobby / passion - just desire. And 3 car spots doesn't quite fit my desires / needs quite as well as 4 does at this point. heh heh. Or...maybe you want to spend $30+K on a E36M3....in which case do I have a deal for you! ....a very nice lookin '99M3 w/ 110k miles...LOL! As fast and inexpensive (relatively speaking) as the Vette is, I just could never bring myself to owning one. Might as well give me some Cavariccis and fuzzy dice :) As a track only car, then I might do it as I'll only be seen in it at the track =P That's why I settled with the Elise as a toy. I originally got it to have some fun and then sell it for very little loss, if any at all. That did happen as I ended up selling the first one at $5k over sticker but something happened in the interim...I really liked the car. So now I have an orange one! ...you know, cuz I wanted stealth. The only problems with ownership of this car are you can't parallel park it and you can't go about doing your own thing without people stopping you to ask questions, etc. People are getting into such idiotic accidents with the Elise that it's amazing. A slight tap will send a big crack in either the front or rear fiberglass. And just try going somewhere in the car and getting out to go do your business. Crowds form around the car. People asking, "What is it?" Me: "A Lotus." Them: "Who makes it?" Me: "Lotus." Them: "Is that an Italian car?" Me: "No." Them: "What the name?" Me: "An Elise." Them: "You leased it?" I'll be taking the Elise to Summit Point in a few weeks. Should be lots of fun. Good luck with your decision... Chester

But I would more likely lease one which is more like $13K out of pocket for 3 years of use. I am also not saying the two strategies are cost equal, sure the E36 would be cheaper than getting two cars and much less than the Z06 is worth so I would have a bunch of $$ left over that I don't have to spend.
