These are BMW Euro floating rotors with new EBC Red pads (my previous set of EBC Red with stock solid rotors were completely silent for 45K miles). If I jack up the right front and manually turn the wheel, the rotor rubs the pad, causing a "chirp," once per rotation, when the car is moving. The chirping is loud when the brakes are cold, not quite as loud when they're warm, but pretty much always there. If I press the pedal when the car is moving, the chirping stops. The pedal is firm, and the brakes seem to operate normally, with no pedal pulsation. Heavy braking does not affect the pattern one way or another -- chirping when rolling, silent under braking. The shop says the rotor itself is slightly cocked ("common with these rotors") and it's "nothing to worry about, cosmetic only." Whether it's a safety problem or not, I don't especially want to live with the chirping for the life of these rotors. Date: Fri, 24 Jun 2005 09:14:42 EDT From: GGray657@aol.com Subject: Anyhav 18wheels/3.73 gear, and obsevations with them on my car... Is anyone running the following setup, if so what are your rev's in fifth gear. I may switch my street wheels and tire size over to this combination to fit Stop tech brakes on my car. 18x8.5 with 235/40 tires and 3.73 gear set with five speed. There is a noticeable difference in how hard the car accelerates with the 18inch verse the 17inch, with my 3.38 gear set. Not bad, but not as snappy. A 3.73 gears would probably be about right. It does look pretty darn cool though!!! Thanks Gary Gray Pro Bike/Pro Bike Cycling Team

They do have a larger one but I didn't need blingy 18s and the expensive tires that go with that size (in R compound). However if the blingy 18s are BBS RCs then I totally approve! :-) -Carlos.

I installed this upgrade awhile back and don't have a manual. I did get a PDF version from BMW NA but it's not the same as the real deal. #8. AC fan troubles - from Theodore Serbinski

Date: Sat, 25 Jun 2005 20:52:34 -0400 From: Theodore Serbinski <stanson@gmail.com> Subject: AC fan troubles guys, just noticed this today. was heading out to run some errands and i turn on the a/c, putting the fan on max and it starts blowing out very cold, nice and super strong. then after a few seconds, the fan goes down to the one of the lowest settings and it's only blowing at like 10%, yet it still says on the LCD that the fan is at its max. after i run errands and i'm returing home, same problem again, fan is on max, then after a few seconds drops to only like 10% or so. any idea why the fan won't blow at full speed? seems like some sort of switch/sensor is on it's way out? thanks! ted 1997 M3 with a slow fan

One is the electronic A/C Controller in your dash and the other is the Final Stage Blower Resistor. Either or both of these can exhibit the symptoms you've described. Unfortunately, I don't know how to diagnose. And, they're not cheap.
