#1. Koni SA or Bilstein Sports? - from Dat Quach (quachd)

I've had Bilstein Sports/H&R Sport springs on my previous '95 M3 and the ride was very harsh (didn't get a chance to track that car). I've been reading favorable reviews on the Koni SAs coupled with the H&R OE Sport springs. I like the fact that you can adjust the stiffness on the Koni SAs, but I've had no experience with them at all. Also, I've read that the installation was quite a pain with the Koni SAs, but I'm not sure if this is true or not. It's been beaten to death on the list, but what the hell... Thanks, Dat '97 M3/2

#2. Alcantara wheel cover? - from Marc Plante

Date: Fri, 1 Jul 2005 12:34:21 -0400 From: Marc Plante <marcva@gmail.com> Subject: Alcantara wheel cover? The wheel on my 1997 M3/4 is starting to fester at the 9:00 spot. If I reskinned it, I'd love to use something a little more grippy than the traditional wheelskins. There's an alcantara cover in the BMW OEM catalog, but it's only for the three Spoke wheel (E46 pp and M). Has anyone seen an aftermarket alternative cover? No I don't want to spend $1k+ to upgrade the entire wheel and airbag package. Marc Plante E36 M3/4 65k Vienna, VA

If you are more "conventional" check a good auto upholstery shop. I got quoted $200 to recover a wheel awhile back and they would dupe the factory stitching. For good results, ask the local Harley ship who to use. Large, burly men with chains usually get good quality work done ;) Jim >>>>> Has anyone seen an aftermarket alternative cover? #5. More Brake Pedal Questions - bad master cylinder? - from Michael, Dave
Top
Date: Fri, 1 Jul 2005 15:43:02 -0400 From: "Michael, Dave" <Dave_Michael@maxtor.com> Subject: More Brake Pedal Questions - bad master cylinder? Folks, A few weeks ago, I posted a question regarding sever brake fade combined with a soft pedal after 8 or 10 hard stops from ~60 mph. The general conclusion was that either I needed to bleed the brakes again or that I needed to get rid of the ceramic compound pads. Well, ever since, I have been paying closer attention to brake feel. Today, I found that if I press the pedal hard, but slowly , 8 or 10 times, with the car NOT MOVING, I STILL get a soft pedal. In fact I can push the pedal to the floor (with some effort). I do not have the press the pedal in quick succession - once slowly every 5 to 8 seconds would do it. So now I am thinking it's a bad master cylinder. Anyone agree/disagree? If so, how difficult a job is it? I am sure I CAN do it. Just not sure I WANT to...... Thanks as always Dave 98 m3/4

Unforutnately, their suede always seemed like it needed sheep shears. Alcantara (Ultrasuede) is the better for this application. Unfortunately, it will most likely pill like a sweater like the factory versions.
