I used to have a steel Sears model that would work, but its seals gave up the ghost, so it's time to replace it. Thanks! Steve

As I posted earlier, I demolished my RR Kumho Ecsta V700 at Thunderhill last week and am in need of at least 1 235/40/17 V700 or a matching pair of 2 used R-comps so I can competitively finish my autocross season. RA-1s, Yoko A032R, Victoracers, and other DOT-R street tires are preferred. For the pair, I am looking for any 225-245 width tire (or any size to fit a stock suspended M3/4 with no fender modification). Once to get it to Stock and then again when you go Prepared. Unlike J Stock (mostly e30 M3s), I Stock is a very light class with only a few cars running. You can gut your car and run Prepared for about the same money and have way more competition. I know many will say you have to spend a ton to run Prepared, but some of the fastest cars ran stock brakes, diffs, etc. Shawn Tillinghast (sp?) comes to mind. Removing weight is practically free! I got rid of some of the mods which were not legal and trying to mod up the car to get up to par. Regarding springs, what are the typical spring rates some of you run? I will be sending out my Bilsteins to get revalved and am in search of springs (stock type; no coilovers). Most people mentioned that the H&R Race springs are not competitive at all. Any other sources/rates etc? If someone has a set that they thought was too soft/hard and is sitting around collecting dust, I may be interested (Shoot me an email offline). Thanks in advance. I have a 328 that I recently purchased that is using coolant. I was hoping it is not a head gasket. I don't seem to see any leaks or obvious weeping. It is a 97 328 with 100K mileage. Any know leak-prone hoses that I should check? Heater core an possibility or do they last forever? Car seems to run strong. I have not accomplished a Leak-Down or a compression test, runs good and does not appear to be trading coolant-for-oil or vise versa. M3 content - This is somewhere I have yet to go with the M3. Look all around the radiator/water pump/thermostat area for signs of dried coolant (if you haven't already). Have a competent mechanic perform a pressure test on the cooling system; he/she should also be able to check the radiator cap to see if its still functioning properly. Do you know the repair history of the car? At 100K miles, if it's hasn't been done already, consider the usual radiator/water pump/thermostat maintenance. Yes, water pump too, even though you most likely have a non-plastic impeller version. They still go bad (mine started leaking at the main bearing). Hope that helps, Jim Bassett

Heater cores will leak like any other car but I have never heard of them being a problem on E36s. You might also examine the water pump, if it's leaking you should be able to see dried coolant splashed or dripped somewhere on the engine and if the water pump hasn't been replaced within the last 60K miles you might want to do it anyway.
