I doubt it, but then I'm guessing too. Plus, I've got approximately 3-4 inches LESS suspension travel, due to the shorter suspension package (shoulda measured it when I had the chance :-)) > So back at ya! :-P~ Jim Bassett

I did get the 47uf cap, and it worked fine. I believe they state you should use a .47uf. Anyone know if I am going to start a fire with the 47uf? Thanks in advance, Paul Smith '98 M3/4/5 speed Indiana

Spend the money on a well built cage, fire system, etc well before go fast goodies. I believe someone on the CR list noted once to buy beter safety than you can afford. I would tend to agree. Also, do not worry about being competive at first, just get out with a good, safe, car and you will find someone to race with. With regard to budget, trippling what you think should be the total figure should be about right. I doubled mine, stuck to my budget, and was out of the game fast ;-) Best of luck! -Chris --- Mark Dadgar <mark@pdc-racing.net> wrote: > Date: Wed, 6 Jul 2005 12:52:05 -0700 > From: Mark Dadgar <mark@pdc-racing.net> > Subject: Re: [E36M3] was I-Stock, now Club Racing > > On Jul 6, 2005, at 12:47 PM, Alan Leung wrote: > > Is there any good resource on budget, maintenance, > typical do's and > > don'ts when thinking about getting into racing? > > Think carefully about what you want to accomplish, > who you want to > race with, what kind of car you want to have, and > how much time you > want to dedicate to it. I COMPLETELY agree with this. Buy safety first and speed later. #6. Club Racing - from Vern Anderson

Date: Wed, 6 Jul 2005 14:12:04 -0700 (PDT) From: Vern Anderson <vernon_anderson@yahoo.com> Subject: Club Racing You know, I have to disagree with that slightly. It really depends on how you treated lapping days and schools. If you were an instructor and/or A-Student and consistently drove hard, then BMW Club Racing isn't going to be all that much different. If you were a slower (speed-wise) student, were super-ultra-conservative, or used lapping days to enjoy the scenery and play with the car a little, then Club Racing will be a little bit of a shock. I was one of the former group and spend about 5 years as a lapping-day racer and instructor; I never got around to racing for various reasons. This year, I finally went BMW Club Racing, I to be honest, I found it just like a expert lapping day. So, if you go to lapping days and do instructor/A-group sessions "with purpose" and "with gusto", then BMW Club Racing won't be too bad. Just my $0.02....... Vern Anderson #186 IP M3 HWT (...heavyweight....) Well, not so much a "do and don't" item, but more of a tip on preparing yourself and your expectations. I believe MarkD said it best (paraphrasing as best I can :-)): "When people say racing is entirely different from drivers schools, what they really mean is RACING IS ENTIRELY DIFFERENT FROM DRIVERS SCHOOLS."

ATE Super Blue is not DOT certified due to non-compliance of the color to the DOT standard. The DOT approved version is the ATE Type 200. This fluid is the same as ATE Super Blue but amber in color. I have no knowledge of the Pentosin RBF. Jeremy // ... // not available to him ... because the blue color makes // it not DOT approved?? I bought a Milwaukee years back, don't remember from whom, but they had a deal that included free shipping that made a big difference in the total price. I was interested in the specs on a new jack they have now at hyjacks.com - "NORCO Motor Sports Racing Jack - 1 1/2 TON MODEL 71255, List Price $777.43, Our Price $499.99. Shipping Wt. 42 lbs. Low Saddle ht. 3 1/2", Max ht. 17 1/2", Length 23 1/2", Width 12", Frame Height 6", Handle Length 50". Six incremental pump strokes to full height. Made in Taiwan using Japanese seals." Anyone have any first hand experience with Norco jacks? Barrett

Date: Wed, 6 Jul 2005 20:51:21 EDT From: Shelhart2@aol.com Subject: Re: [E36M3] ATE Super Blue ... not available? ATE makes a non blue equivalent which is better due to the dying effect it has on the resevoir. The Blue coloring makes it difficult to read the level through the plastic resevoir over time by visual inspection. I believe the super blue is not technically DOT approved. It says something to the effect of similar to ... to cover themselves. All the major BMW aftermarket supplier carry it. Shel
