I had some cold-water fall on my feet and the passenger seat this weekend at an auto-x. I know some cars have a drip line for water to get out of the AC unit. Some times they get clogged and need to get compressed air shot through them to clean them out. Any idea where this is or other areas that I should check? Thanks Doug

It draws 55w just like the standard bulb. It is brighter because of a change they make to the filament shape, not because it draws more power. This also changes the output pattern a bit, but it isn't drastic and doesn't render it un-useable. These are good bulbs. I've been running an H4 version of it in my real BMW (2 wheeled one) for about 3 years now and have not experienced any failures (the US ones are notoriously short-lived.) FWIW - I think a second set of relays - up close to the headlight assemblies - for anyone running standard halogen bulbs in their M3 isn't a bad idea. I have measured 7/10ths of a volt drop between the low beam positive connection and the battery jump point under the hood. Doesn't sound like a lot - but it actually results in about 15% less light from the same 55w bulb. Anyone considering higher wattage bulbs (I don't recommend it BTW..) risks damage to the just adequate factory wiring harness. > > I ordered the Osram SilverStar bulbs for my IX a some time > back. Date: Sun, 10 Jul 2005 22:28:44 -0500 From: Scott Blazey <edpm3@earthlink.net> Subject: Re: [Thermostat failure My E36 race car does not have a stock thermostat. After suffering a blown head gasket as a result of overheating caused by failure of an OE thermostat (not the one that came with the car but a replacement), I installed an 80-degree Stant ($15 at Advance Auto). It certainly doesn't appear to be higher quality, but it does have fewer moving parts (fewer parts to malfunction?). I also now have a pre-race ritual that includes warming up the car in the paddock and physically checking to make sure hot water is circulating through the radiator before I head to the grid. Whether the t-stat is OE or a cheaper alternative, I'm not taking any chances. Scott Blazey 1995 M3 ------------------------------------------ > Is there a better quality thermostat available? On my '95 M3 I must have gone through four thermostats and now I have gone through two in my '96 M3. Most failed within a year or so. #5. [E36M3] Hawk HP+ or R4? - from Colin_S_Whelan@raytheon.com

Hi guys, I was wondering what would be a better dual purpose (minimal street (1-2K miles per year), autox and a few track days) pad, the Hawk HP+ or the R4? I drove the HP+ on a friend's Mustang and they were quite impressive even when cold. How's the dust? How's the cold bite on the R4? I currently run the R4S and like it, but it could use a bit more bite. Thanks, Colin '98 M3

If that's the noise you're hearing, you can duplicate it by gently hitting the cat with a rubber hammer (no animals are harmed). Solution in that case would be another cat.
