Gary is talking about a specific model of Kumho tire - the Ectsa V700 DOT R-Compound tire. Yes is sucks, for all the reasons listed before. The Victoracer V700, Ecsta V710 and Ecsta MX are all awesome tires in their own respect. Why Kumho continues to manufacture (and people continue to buy) the Ecsta V700, I have no idea. I know that Scott is not a newb, so I'd strongly recommend the Victoracer V700 and either 10w40 or 15w15 depending on how hot it is going to be. My e36 is no longer my main track car, though it will see a few track days here and there. I'd like to get away from the pricey S03s. I didn't mention RA-1s because Scott is a conehead (autoxer, CP addy/"the heavy metal class"). No self-respecting conehead does it on RA-1s or A032Rs for that matter. :-P Carlos.

Why Kumho continues to manufacture (and people continue to > buy) the Ecsta V700, I have no idea. This is what happens with Ecsta V700s: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v489/ruddin3/DSCN1970.jpg Mind you that this was a right rear tire that saw the most loading on a counter clockwise track. The tires tend to be more popular with car with very low curb weights: the local Caterham/Super 7 and Cobra Replica autocrossers swear by them. At most, the Ecsta V700s are a decent autocross tire, but hardly any more than that. They tended to heat up quickly for me and, most importantly, provided much more grip than my street tires. They are too marginal for any serious track usage. That said, my next set of R-comps is most likely going to be a set of RA-1s.. Drive Safely, Raza

Yeah, I caught that, but I guess I focused on the "track" portion of his post. Ah well. #6. new RSC36 exhaust... thoughts? - from Theodore Serbinski

Date: Tue, 12 Jul 2005 11:29:33 -0700 From: Theodore Serbinski <stanson@gmail.com> Subject: new RSC36 exhaust... thoughts? Hey guys, so the new RSC36 exhaust from UUC is finally out and reviews/thoughts are finally starting to flow about this new exhuast. For the uninformed: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/RSC36/ Anyways, what are you guys' thoughts on this new exahust? It is made by Corsa, which I think should automatically get it a first look regardless. Now how does it compare to say the AA Gen III or the Stromung? It seems like it is going to bit louder and more aggressive, but not terribly loud and annoyling like the previous System-U/TSE exhausts by UUC. Performance wise, I'm assuming it'll be on par? Same with weight? Right now I have the AA Gen III and it's a great exhaust, but I do want something a bit more aggresive and exotic and it seems this exhaust might fill that gap. Love to hear what you guys think, especially any first hand (or is that ear?) experiences. Thanks, ted

So, why again do you guys think the Ecsta V700's are pieces of sh!t? Admittedly I have no experience with other R compounds but I have 6 track days now on a set of V700s and they still look good. The performance compared to the Ecsta MX and S-03 that I have run on the track for the past 3 years is fantastic. Maybe I am just missing out on non-POS track tire performance but I am pretty happy with the V700s so far. I was neck and neck with an 05 Mustang GT on Victoracers and a modded C5 Vette (Don't know what tires) couldn't catch me on Sunday at Autobahn CC. So far I am happy with the tires, but as I said that might just be because I am a relative R-compound virgin. -- Jamie Howton 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL
