(Jim specifically) My original question was misstated. I didn't mean to ask about R-compounds... I mean to solicit opinions on the Kuhmo Ecsta MXs -- how do they faire as replacements for S03s? I need a good street tire that will see occasional track time. Want to spend less money than the S03s. -Jon

I used them as summer only street tires for about 20K miles and 15 track days. They are not as good in the cold or wet as S-03's but when it's hot and dry they do pretty well. They wear very well, mine still have approx 4/32nds of tread left, are reasonably quiet and otherwise well behaved. -- Jamie Howton 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL

I am a relative R-Comp newbie also- this was my first set for the M3 and the only r-comps that I can really say I've experienced fully. I've driven on RA-1s but one time was in VERY heavy rain. The second time was on brand-new, full tread RA-1s in which I did 2 laps at Sears Point until I was certain I was going to wad up the car because of tread squirm. I've heard shaving will help and so will a lighter car (I was driving a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo at the time). When the Ecsta V700s were working properly, they were pretty good. Then again, I think most of my satisfaction from them is mainly derived from the fact that I have been tracking and autocrossing on street tires for the past 5 years and any increase in grip would make me happy. The tires lasted about 10 mins into the last of 5 sessions that I drove my car at Thunderhill. All of sudden, the car would go into snap oversteer on any left hand turn- worst of which was going flat into turn 9 sliding sideways up the hill. Drive Safely, Raza

Someone in my area installed it. http://www.students.bucknell.edu/rlabarca/exhaust/M3_exhaust.html He has vdieo clips with sound, but its hard to say what it really sounds like unless your actually in the car. I had the TS Exhaust from UUC, and I love the fit and look of it, but it was way too loud for my tastes. I would like to compare how loud the new UUC RSC36 exhaust is compared to the TSE, and then see some dyno's and then maybe I'll shell out 900 dollars for it. That's a lot of MONEY for you NOT to like the way it sounds! :) Hope this helps. ------------- Jesse C. -99 Imola Red M3 -93 Alpine White 325i -------------------- 6 -------------------- Date: Tue, 12 Jul 2005 11:29:33 -0700 From: Theodore Serbinski <stanson@gmail.com> Subject: new RSC36 exhaust... thoughts? Hey guys, so the new RSC36 exhaust from UUC is finally out and reviews/thoughts are finally starting to flow about this new exhuast. For the uninformed: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/RSC36/ Anyways, what are you guys' thoughts on this new exahust? It is made by Corsa, which I think should automatically get it a first look regardless. Now how does it compare to say the AA Gen III or the Stromung? It seems like it is going to bit louder and more aggressive, but not terribly loud and annoyling like the previous System-U/TSE exhausts by UUC. Performance wise, I'm assuming it'll be on par? Same with weight? Right now I have the AA Gen III and it's a great exhaust, but I do want something a bit more aggresive and exotic and it seems this exhaust might fill that gap. Love to hear what you guys think, especially any first hand (or is that ear?) experiences. Thanks, ted

I've seen the UUC RSC36 and it's a very nice piece. Unusually compact, excellent fit and finish, weighs in at a useful 16.5 lbs lighter than stock. Sound at low rpm/throttle openings is deep and throaty, then gets significantly louder as you'd expect at WOT/high rpm. Don't know how it compares to other performance cat-back systems like AA or Stromung since I have no firsthand experience with them. Neil 96 M3 - Stock muffler

Interesting cat back exhaust testing on a 95 M3 in the August 05 issue of Grassroots Motorsports. Don't expect more than 1-2 RWHP from any cat back system. Seems the buying decision should be based on sound and weight savings. The article tests a 95 with Conforti intake and software on a Dynojet. For those of you that can't get the article, here's the reults: System Weight(lb) Max hp Max Torque SounddB Price Stock 45 210.0 202 106 $717 Scorpion 26 204.9 202.4 107 $499 AA 30 213.1 206.5 108 $689 Remus 38 209.5 204.2 107 $729 Borla 27.5 211.1 204.3 108 $626 Supersprint 34.5 210.3 203.6 107 $831 The factory exhaust is heavy but sure does a nice job. I have a real hard time paying $800-900 for no performance gain. That price would go a long way toward buying some of the new Sunbelt/Bimmerworld cams. Dave -----Original Message----- From: Kent L.
