Yet another happy user. Yeah, they give up a little ultimate grip, but they wear like iron. IMHO, a better track than auto-x tire, it's hard to get heat into 'em. If you're gonna run 'em on a dry track, shave 'em. > > I think they grip fairly well <g>: > http://www.jimbassett.com/THill%20Turn%2014.html > (Yesterday's PDC Day at Thunderill, Turn 14) Why'd you buy four tires if you're only gonna use three? - Alain

On the other hand there's this comparo test: http://www.activeautowerke.com/exhaust/eurospeed_exhaustshootout/ The link is on AA's site, but they didn't perform the test. Not exactly - coming up to the final apex of a double turn taken as a carousel, no prior hard braking. The point you're apparently missing is that no matter what else you have to have pretty good tire grip to lift a wheel, and the Toyos do. Our stock exhausts flow relatively well (although they weigh a ton) and you shouldn't expect more than 2-3HP gain by adding an exhaust to a stock vehicle. On the other hand, on modified cars the gains can be greater. On my '95 I had added Schricks, Euro HFM, and the Conforti intake, and was coming up with 236HP on a Dynojet. I thought it was a little lower than it should be. I added a UUC TSE and jumped to 242HP on the same dyno, with a similar increase in torque at higher rpms. The fact that the exhaust is 25 lbs lighter is also a plus. John Cloutier Date: Tue, 12 Jul 2005 16:12:12 -0700 From: "Dave DeBuhr" <debuhr@comcast.net> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Re: new RSC36 exhaust... These weight savings don't seem to justify the expense. This is fixed weight not rotational, or even unsprung weight which we all know multiply into other savings besides raw mass. There is free weight redution in the trunk and hood insulation. Agree a catback can be justified on a modified vehicle, and certainly an option if the OEM fails. Has anyone added another factor besides, weight, cost, decibles? Perhaps fuel consumption would be a popular one now that we are spending more at the pump. Let us not forget reducing exhaust weight on the rear of the vehicle offsets that famous bmw weight dist as well. There are potential gains here that we might not see due to increases other than max along the full RPM band. The stock 96+ cat-back has long since been a viable upgrade and the loss of weight in the systems below should show real world changes as well, though seven-to-nine hundred for the small gain-to-cash outlay is a tough hurdle. -------------------- 9 -------------------- Date: Tue, 12 Jul 2005 16:12:12 -0700 From: "Dave DeBuhr" <debuhr@comcast.net> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Re: new RSC36 exhaust...
