Or the hole actually on the trailing arm? Neither. What we're referring to is the hole that bolt #19 in that picture screws into. It's a threaded insert in the chassis, that in some cases is very sparcely spot-welded in place. An aggressively used track car, or a race car, will have these "inserts" fully welded. Hope that helps, Jim Bassett

BTW - I have no idea and haven't looked to see if the M3 subframe p/n is the same as for non-M3s. The "hole" I was referring to is the threaded sleeve that part #19 screws into. I have the factory tools to do the cam lock-down, and so I can't comment on whether the square end tops were parallel (I presume they were) when I did the cam timing. I followed the Bentley procedure and they timed out nicely. One thing that I did find cool is that BMW put a small post down low, sticking straight out of the block, above the crank sprocket. It's there to prevent the cam chain from getting stuck "down there" if it falls in and/or you turn the motor while the chain is in the un-routed position. I thought that's pretty cool of them to think of that. -- ______________________________________ Andrew E. Kalman, Ph.D. aek@pumpkininc.com

The fuse is okay and both bulbs are okay. There's no voltage at light sockets when in reverse. No warnings or checks on the OBC show up. Where's the next place to check? How do you get to the switch that completes the circuit? Any help would be appreciated. -- thx, Bob '95 M3

It's a quick, easy (15 mins?) job once the car is on ramps or jackstands.
