It comes in a few pieces but you don't use any of the stock pieces anymore. The undertray will no longer attach to anything except the lower portion of the bumper. I had this done on my car when I took a piece of rolled up carpet last year. I like it a lot. Kent

What I have also done, is simply run the rusted area on a wire wheel to clean off the rust, then hit it with some rustoleum type of paint. Unless the rust is really deep, that should do the trick. Normally you are just seeing some minor surface rust. Scott Mdriver13@aol.com wrote: Date: Wed, 27 Jul 2005 17:46:55 EDT From: Mdriver13@aol.com Subject: Re: [E36M3] Surface rust on sway bar? The JT Designs website lists the brake duct kit (without underpanel) is $148.00. I don't have any experience with this duct kit, but from installing brake ducting on 4 different track cars, this looks like a quality piece that should be very effective and sturdy for heavy track use. I plan to get a kit in the future. Drive Safely, Raza

I think in part due to the Bilsteins, H&Rs, KMACs, RD Sport sways, Brembo 320x28 rotors w/4 piston calipers, 17x8 Racing Dynamics rims, JimC cai, etc., etc. I've put on it, but still with a nice big 325i badge on the back. In short, it's not a poser - I know it's not an M3 and never will be. (although the vanity plate M3WANAB is available, I checked!) That being said, a few years back someone pulled out it front of me and when I had it fixed, I had the shop use a M3 bumper cover for the better airflow to the brakes. They didn't do it right though, none of the undertray was installed that should have been. I just recently took a retread of a semi through the lower grill, wiping out everything below the reinforcement. It was so bad I pulled over, unbolted the bumper cover, pulled the reinforcing bar out of it, and threw the rest in a dumpster (after taking some pictures of it for the insurance company so the could see it was completely trashed). Given how the last shop fixed it, I'm leaning towards having a shop paint the bumper cover and grill and doing the work myself. At least I'll know it's done right - I was child slave labor in my parent's body shop, so I'm not worried about my ability to do the work, but I do need to get everything done up right in respect to the estimate because the insurance isn't going to want to dicker with me over a supplement for some part missing from the original estimate. Plus this way I can go with a JTD undertray and pay for it with some of my $35/hour labor. What I don't know is interchangability between sedan and coupe parts (my sedan is a 2/95 production date) - when looking on realoem.com I'm forced to chose between a 2/95 M3 coupe, or a later model sedan, plus I'm not completely clear as to what parts the JTD undertray replaces. The diagrams for a 95 M3 don't include the undertray, it's only listed for the lightweight and GT. Anyone know the interchange & can help me out? TIA, Barrett

The M3 sedan use the "shorter" undertray found on the non-M E36s. Although, except for the undertray itself, the rest of the parts are identical AFAIK ("porkchop" corner pieces, etc.) > Undertray is for Coupes only, > again as I recall. But no reason I can see that it wouldn't work on a sedan. AFAIK, YMMV, etcetcetc :-) Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44 JP

It's getting warmer and warmer and I'd like to add in some higher octane fuel for my sharked M3. PS: Haven't really paid close attention to prior water pump/radiator/thermostat threads but now as my 99 M3 approaches 70,000mi on its original water pump/radiator I'm starting to dig up old threads. This all happened after having received $800-1500 (!) from my usual mechanic as well as various BMW dealers' quotes on replacing the radiator+water-pump+thermostat. Guess for that $$$ I'll just learn how to do it. Wasn't looking forward to having to deal with collecting all that coolant for recycling but for $800+ otherwise I'll have to... :-) Phil '99 M3/2
