#4. Window slider repair - from Jonathan Evans
Top
Date: Sat, 30 Jul 2005 20:25:21 +0000 From: "Jonathan Evans" <jonathanevans@hotmail.com> Subject: Window slider repair Okay, door panel off, found out why the window rotates instead of go up and down. The scissor mechanism arms that push/pull the window have come out of the two little plastic clips. I push them in, they pop back out. Bent the arms toward them a little, but to no avail. Looking for the part numbers on realoem.com and found this: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BF93&mospid=47486&btnr=51_2055&hg=51&fg=10 Item number 2. Has anyone replaced just these and had good luck with the window staying attached? Darn these coupes and the cool method for sealing when you open/close the door. Jonathan 95 M3

It's worked for me, fwiw. Correct. I asked Josh this several years ago (and I think he even posted to the list). I've been cleaning both mine for years with soap & water, no problems. (As a matter of fact, just got done cleaning the one in the race car, after having the stock airbox in briefly for a CA smog check - it passed :-)) Cheers, Jim Bassett

Yep, just like my motocross days. :-) When I order a second ITG filter for my cold air intake last year (so I always have a clean one to install and I clean the dirty one at my leisure), they recommended/sold the No-Toil cleaner and oil. Which is half way down this page on their site: <http://www.sharked.com/intakes.html> I bought mine from them, but I have seen it in about every motorcycle shop I have visited in the Bay Area in the last month. >(As a matter of fact, just got done cleaning the one in the race car, >after having the stock airbox in briefly for a CA smog check - it passed :-)) Nice! :-) -- Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com

I just throw 1/4 cup in a bucket with hot water, massge the filter in it for 5 minutes then rinse and let it dry. The water turns black and the ITG oil dissolves almost instantly when it hits the water. Regards -- Jamie Howton 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL

Thanks for posting the info. Jim Bassett
