I don't think that statement came out the way you intended, or at least not as I read it. Cd is a dimensionless value that allows the comparison of drag incurred by different sized and different shaped bodies. As such it is independent of frontal area rather than "taking it into account." To arrive at actual drag for a car of known Cd you have to multiply in the frontal area (and factor in air density and velocity of course). Mel, You could also have a small crack in the evaporative emissions tank. It's a OBDII thing, a small plastic gas vapor expansion tank found underneath the right rear fender liner. It's a $300 item, so I hope it's a gas cap situation. good luck, Bob Gill 97 ///M3 coupe Philly Region SCCA 2nd Place BSP - PA State Championship 2004

While I agree with Bob on the possible source of the "small leak" CEL (my mechanic mentioned the same possible source for my occasional "small leak" CEL), not sure where you're getting the $300 number from. Both my mechanic and RealOEM.com show the tank as ~$40. Oh, and Jonathan, a loose gas cap will register as a "large leak" :-) BTDT. Cheers, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44 JP

Jim, You are right. I checked my invoice, tank was $31.00, clamp $1.95, and labor was $120.00 at the Dealer. Don't know where I came up with $300, that must have been another job????? thanks for catching that, Jim Bob Gill -- having a bad day...show up for an autox, only to find bulldozers ripping up the lot!! 97 ///M3 coupe Philly Region SCCA 2nd Place BSP - PA State Championship 2004

I've found that about every 10,000 - 15,000 miles on the street car (M3) seems to be about right, in terms of how dirty it looks. Jim Bassett

It's worked well in both of my M3's. I use the K&N filter recharger kit. Don't put too much oil on it as it can fry the Mass airflow sensor (I made the mistake in my 2004).
