I didn't closely follow this thread but I had a charcoal canister go bad that took us forever to diagnose. It in the trunk under the plastic cover under your spare tire. It costed about $120 to replace and my EVAP fault code went away. Shel

I think that it is thicker than the K&N oil. You might want to consider using the correct oil. Regarding the MAF and excessive oil (filter or engine), I have been able to successfully clean the MAF element with an electrical contact cleaner. My car had crankcase pressure problems and I use to clean the MAF after each half hour track session. I use to clean my ITG filter with dish detergent and water. Works. Has anyone dyno tested to compare the effect of the OE, K&N, ITG and/or BMC air filters on hp and torque? Gerry > Shel: > I just did mine and typically do every 15k miles. #3. Busted Window Fuse - from Andrej Dolenc

Date: Sun, 31 Jul 2005 22:24:22 -0400 From: Andrej Dolenc <adolenc@erols.com> Subject: Busted Window Fuse Gruppe, Question for y'all. Hopped in my car this afternoon only to find that neither of the windows would roll down. Sunroof was fine, but windows were completely non-functional, even when opening & closing the door (my m3 is a coupe). Check the simple things first, turned out to be a busted fuse (note to self, buy spare fuse!). Question in principle though. I haven't heard of this being a problem area on our cars. Was this just a fluke, or should I start worrying about replacing my now 8 year old fuses? Thanks, Andrej '97 M3

#5. Oil Filters - from twisty M3
Top
Date: Sun, 31 Jul 2005 20:38:32 -0700 From: "twisty M3" <twistym3@hotmail.com> Subject: Oil Filters I was browsing the Mobil 1 website this afternoon and came to discover that both Purolator and FRAM offer oil filters for our cars... Whoulda thunk?!? Whilst I was down at AutoZone I decided to confirm what I read and found a FRAM filter easily. I didn't purchase it, but I did open the box and it sure looks right, though colored differently. I've only used the OE filters and never even thought to look up other choices, nor do I recall there being any on-list duscussion during the many oil debates I've read. Has anyone used any of these other choices, or have valid opinions or details on why one wouldn't want to use them? Thanks! Oh, and Mobil 1 now claims to have a 10w40 synthetic that meets all the BMW specs, though no one local to me seems to carry it. Jonathan L.

I was not holding the stalk in long enough to activate the wipers and the bulb on the obc behind the clock was burned out. Once again thanks. There isn't a whole lot of pressure in that system, so "real" hose clamps would be overkill (and he suggested there might not be enough space for the worm-drive part of the clamp). Jim Bassett
