That's a new one, at least for me. Have a part number handy for it Don? I ordered a new cap and the c-clip or whatever it is that hold it in as the ..pdf file IIRC tells you to sand down the piston a small amount with either fine grit sand paper or emery cloth. I'm going to get this done soon so I need to order the kit if someone can provide the part number. Carlos.

FWIW, this is the method that was performed on my car. Worked just fine. Problem solved. Jim Bassett

Have a part number handy for it Don? I saw reference to the "kit" and the PN on an M3 forum somewhere.. if I had to guess it would be either www.m3forum.com or forums.bimmerforums.com It might be in the latest ETK, or perhaps on the TIS, or on AllData's listing. If you ping me tonight after 7PM I'll take a look on each of them. >I ordered a new cap and the c-clip or whatever it is that hold it in as the >.pdf file >IIRC tells you to sand down the piston a small amount with either fine grit >sand paper or emery >cloth. That should work also. It's easy to test - you want it to slide EASILY in the bore. If it hangs up - it's too tight. >I'm going to get this done soon so I need to order the kit if someone can >provide the part number. #9. Cylinder Head Height - from bs

Date: Wed, 17 Aug 2005 20:09:09 -0400 From: "bs" <m3bs@comcast.net> Subject: Cylinder Head Height Head gasket replacement in progress. My head measures about 0.004" from flat. The Bentley book says 0.012" can be removed to true it up, for a final minimum height of 5.500". Anybody know if this is a good number for ALL 6-cyl E36 engines, including M3? Sometimes this book isn't specific enough for the M3 models.
