E36 M3 SPECIFIC BILSTEIN COIL OVER KIT I have a couple of questions that I'm sure others on the list are interested in. 1. Any personal user feedback on how this compares to any of the TC Kline stuff? >>I have personally never driven on a TC suspension so I can't comment but the Bilstein PSS9 kit was designed as an aggressive street suspension. Like the other PSS9 kits its perfect for a "dual use" car (street and drivers schools) The ride on the street is firm but not harsh and on the track you can adjust the shocks to a firmer setting - which helps a lot in terms of handling... Especially turn in.... 2. Price (I'd check that on your website, but I get the following error: Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01b6' >>Our web site seems to be down, working on it now... Thanks. >>The price is $1479 >>Will -----Original Message----- From: Will Turner [mailto:willt@turnermotorsport.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 24, 2005 8:50 AM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] <AD> NEW ! Just curious to hear if anyone is running the Castrol RS 10w60 in their E36M3? From what I gather, it's a bit pricey, but I haven't seen anything in the archives as to whether or not anyone's actually running it for track/street E36s. Jonathan L. I use it in my M5 but only because it is required for that engine. I am currently averaging 946 miles/Litre of oil in that car. I wouldn't use it in my M3 just because it is so expensive, my last buy for a case was $8.15/Litre which I was told was just over dealer cost. I have heard reports of people paying $13/Litre from their local dealer. I have used 5W30, 10W30, 10W40 Mobil 1 and 15W50 and 20W50 Redline in my M3 on the street and track and noticed little difference. My M3 uses very little oil even on the track. I just don't think it matters all that much for M3 engines. My $.02. Regards -- Jamie Howton 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL

#5. Any Experiance with the Toyo T1-R? - from dgcrum@jps.net

Hi Folks, Not to start another "my tire is rounder and stickier than your tire" thread, but has anyone here lived with the new Toyo T1-R yet? It's time to put fresh tires on my 96 M3 before the upcoming rainy season. Since I really like the handling, wear, and ride of my RA1s, I am considering Toyo's street tire. I've been through three sets of Bridgestone SO3s in the past 60k miles (including some track and autocross use). My experiance with the SO3 is that they have good traction in both wet and dry, are really predictable, but they get really noisy and, well, lumpy feeling as they approach the 20k mile mark. If the Toyo has comparable traction and wear with less noise, I will give them a try. The price is appealing too as the SO3 keeps creeping past the $200 mark (currently $212 at Tirerack) and the Toyo is "only" $160 (for 235 40 17). #6. [E36M3] Ignition Switch Problem - need help - from Dave DeBuhr

Date: Wed, 24 Aug 2005 18:19:21 -0700 From: "Dave DeBuhr" <debuhr@comcast.net> Subject: [E36M3] Ignition Switch Problem - need help I went to shut my car off in my garage. The key turned a little and then the lock freewheeled. When the cylinder 'caught again, it wouldn't budge in either direction. The key can be pulled out and the engine is running! I had to dump the clutch in gear with my foot on the brake to kill the motor. Key is in the on position so I had to disconnect the battery too. Any ideas? No way to start the car until I get it fixed. Dave 98 M3/4

A piece of tire tread somehow got stuck in my wheel, flopped around and knocked it off. Luckily, it was not tread from my tire! Anyone have a line on a used one for a 1995 M3? Thanks. #8. Clutch Slave Cylinder problems - from kevin ogrodnik

Date: Thu, 25 Aug 2005 06:13:01 -0700 (PDT) From: kevin ogrodnik <kwogrodnik@yahoo.com> Subject: Clutch Slave Cylinder problems Hi all, After putting the tranny back in and attempting to bleed the clutch, the slave cylinder basically exploded and sent the piston and spring into the bellhousing. While attempting to bleed the line the clutch pedal stopped about an inch or two off the floor, and felt like it was 'caught' on something. After attempting to push the pedal a couple times it still felt 'caught' and it then let go, popped, went to the floor, and exploded the cylinder. Any idea of what it could have been catching on? Was it possibly just a bad cylinder, even though it worked fine previously? Hoping to not have to drop the tranny again. Luckily we were able to fish out all the pieces from the bellhousing (we hope!) without dropping the tranny again. It is #14 on this diagram: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BF93&mospid=47486&btnr=21_0059&hg=21&fg=10 Thanks in advance.
