I have this very same problem: Cross Drilled rotors and Hawk HPS pads. I am almost positive that this problem is caused by pad material build up in the holes of the rotors. I have empirically tested this theory by braking heavily (to clean any deposits off and put an even amount of gunk in the holes). This seems to work for a short period of time. Frequent stop and go traffic and light brake pressures seem to make the problem worse. I am convinced that it is the rotors collecting pad material unevenly either due to the composition of the rotors or the holes themselves. I think (without having tested this theory) that switching to solid or slotted rotors would fix this. I would like to know if the so called "super rotors" with both holes and slots have this problem. #2. Windshield Woes - from FranKirsten

About a year-and-a-half ago I replaced two windshields in one month due to rocks. In Arizona they use a road surface called 'chip-sealing' where they basically dump oil and gravel to resurface because they can't afford real asphalt most of the time. The last two replacements were OEM windshields. I noticed some strange distortion near the right and left edge of the last windshield that I don't seem to remember before. Anyway, I'm hoping to get some recommendations on a higher quality windshield, one that can hold up to a little more pebble abuse than the OEM, if one exists. Thanks for your advice, Frank

I just bought one of the new V28 Lithium Ion Milwaukee cordless impact guns so I plan on selling my old 18V one. The new one is pretty much the same as the old one but supposedly lasts longer. The old one is in perfect working order and includes the case, 2 batteries and the home charger. It does have signs of use but it works perfectly. I should be able to take pictures some time this week if anyone wants to see it. Make me a reasonable offer (no, I won't accept $100 for it) and I will include free shipping too. I encourage you to check eBay but look closely at most of the ones listed - they are not including anything - no battery case or charger and those are not cheap! -Wayne

I often wondered why I've seen porting of brake rotors listed in flyers by places that do custom porting of heads and what not. I guess perhaps if you port a rotor lightly, it might be more resilient to collecting dust as the dust would flow and evacuate better, as well as air passage facilitating out-gassing and venting. Who knows for sure thou. -----Original Message----- From: Mel Silva [mailto:melsilva@mindspring.com] Sent: Monday, September 19, 2005 10:05 PM To: E36M3 Subject: Re: [E36M3] Front wheel shake under braking??? I bet people who use those are racers, and racers know that you should replace those things quite frequently. Speaking of which I heard the fast blue M Coupe in the VIR club race crashed in turn 1. I was too busy in the CR school so I didn't see it or anything but I heard it was because the right floating rotor failed somehow. So rotors fail no matter what type they are. Anyone know a LTW that crashed after the back straight at Mid-Ohio at 120mph? (I know him so I won't say name) That was a super duper Brembo big brake kit cross drilled rotor. I don't know what the obsession is with cross drilled rotors anyway when the cheap solid ones seem to work so well. Diff'rnt strokes for diff'rnt folks I guess. -Carlos 98 M3 w/StopTechs (only slotted) :-P

I specified a PPG windshield. That thing was as wavy as Lays! I had them replace it. The 2nd PPG windshield they ordered was as bad as the 1st. So, they used a different brand. Not sure which. No waves now. My experience with PPG was not good. #10. Harnesses, radiator and water pump - from John Hoffner

Date: Tue, 20 Sep 2005 10:00:14 -0700 From: John Hoffner <jhoffner@gcfinc.com> Subject: Harnesses, radiator and water pump WTB: Schroth Quick Fit Harnesses I would also like to purchase a set. If after Ty Vilhauer finds a set and anyone else has a set I would be interested. I am also considering an aluminum radiator but I don't have the $400 plus to spend right now. Anybody have one of these? Or know of a group buy for either items? Earlier I emailed that the impeller to my water pump fell apart. And I asked if a back flush or other procedure should be performed. I think I got all the pieces, but I'm a little worried about missing any. If anyone answered I missed it. Does anyone have information about this? Or dealt with this before? Thanks, John
