#1. Question: Adjustable Sway Bar End Link - from Alan Leung
Top
Date: Tue, 20 Sep 2005 10:44:27 -0500 From: "Alan Leung" <alanleung100@hotmail.com> Subject: Question: Adjustable Sway Bar End Link It looks like my front sway bar end links are getting loose so it's probably time for replacement. I'm thinking about going with adjustable end links as I vaguely remember it's a good idea if car will be lowered. Can anyone tell me how the adjustment compensates for a lowered front? Just by looking at the front suspension I can't quite see how it'd matter. Advices welcomed. Also thanks a lot to Jay, Pat, Keith, Chester, Andrew for answering my question on how to remove the rear lower control arm. I'm a little relieved to know that I don't need to disconnect the drive shaft. Alan 95 M3

Not necessarily "proof", but it was something to try. > When I first got the car, I didn't have the vibration but quite a bit has changed. It's got 2 piece 18" wheels, new suspension, different brakes. The vibration hasn't always been there. I have over the last couple of days noticed that it's not consistent. What I mean by that is, the amount of vibration is at times worse than others. Road type doesn't seem to matter. After doing as some suggested with agressive braking, the problem minimize. This morning I noticed it was back to some degree. I think it's deposits on the rotors and not warped rotors. I guess it's time to swap out the rotors and put the Pagid pads on that I have in the garage. Anybody have experience with the Euro rotors? I'm considering non-drilled as suggested. KEnt

I wasn't all that impressed with them (disclaimer: this was for track-duty, and I was poor-braking-technique Intermediate driver at the time :-)). They didn't seem to perform any better, last any longer than plain ol' cheap Brembos. Couldn't see paying the extra for what was for me a consumable item. Jim Bassett

Minor thread hijack :-) Anyone have a really good rec for an installer in the SF Bay Area - East Bay? I used a shop in San Jose that I was happy with, but since I no longer work in that area, it's a bit far to go. Thanks, Jim Bassett

I had horrible experiences with other companies when my E30 needed a windscreen. Safelite out of Union City worked well. Where are you in the East Bay? I live in Hayward and work in Berkeley. I was working in The Silly Valley up until a few months ago. I'm a bit more, ummm, "particular" about the M3 <g>, so was looking for a non-mobile possibility. > Where are you in the East Bay? Live in Pleasant Hill, work in Alameda. The good one was the one that was done at home, so I should > consider them. Glass on The Move did one on my E30. They totally botched the job. They had never done an E30 M3. They didn't fully understand how it should be done. The glass was crappy. It wound up taking 3 days total. One day to do it wrong. One day to wait for OEM glass. The final day to do it right. The install guy was a MORON!!!!! There was a gap at the bottom of the screen where it didn't fit right. He just came to the inside of the car and added black silicone. > > I'm a bit more, ummm, "particular" about the M3 <g>, so was looking for a > non-mobile possibility. Safelite has a shop in Union City on Whipple. You can take the car in. YMMV but Glass On the Move did the install in my E30 in their shop. Every other screen I've had installed was either at work or home and were done right the first time. The guys in the shop don't see as many cars as the guys in the field. > >> Where are you in the East Bay? > > Live in Pleasant Hill, work in Alameda. > We can take theis off line but I worked in Alameda for a while.
