#1. More Help Needed!!! Rear Lower Control Arm to Outer Ball Joint - from Alan Leung

Date: Sun, 02 Oct 2005 23:16:43 -0500 From: "Alan Leung" <alanleung100@hotmail.com> Subject: More Help Needed!!! Rear Lower Control Arm to Outer Ball Joint I am installing the GC adjustable rear lower control arms and the outer bracket seems to interfere with the trailing arm mount point. The part on the trailing arm that houses the outer ball joint interferes with the circular cutout on the bracket. I also noticed that the outer ball joints are not even front to back - they are flush with the front side of the trailing arm part. Are they supposed to be that way? It seems that if the outer ball joints are symmetrical front to back on the trailing arm the GC adjustable lower control arm brackets may clear. Your input is appreciated. Alan 95 M3

I have them installed in my M3. They fit perfectly and basically work as advertised. I didn't really notice an increase in NVH over the stock ones, but they are a cool yellow color and I suppose that alone is good for at least a second per lap ;-). It did seem to tighten up the driveline a little bit, I never have trouble finding the gear I want now, although I do have urethane tranny mounts too. -- Jamie Howton 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL

You might want to check the contacts on the bulb carrier before you replace the entire light. I've seen where the contact point on the light itself has eroded itself, so far I've been able to just clean it up with emery cloth, but it looks like I'll eventually have to try and get in there with a dremel and soldering iron and see if I can't just clean it all really good and then lay down a nice thick solder pad that should cure any high impedence problems. hth, Barrett

I noticed a rhythmic clicking sound coming from the right rear of my M3 (106K miles, lots of track time) . It increases in frequency with road speed and goes away when I apply the brakes. Does this sound like a wheel bearing? Thanks -- Jamie Howton 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL

Jamie, Wheel bearings usually rumble and or have a rhythmic thump that goes away or is reduced when the bearing load changes. I'd suspect the brakes. Take a look for loose bolts, or missing anti- rattle clips (including the one on the back of the inside pad), or even a stone lodged in the caliper. Also look at the backing plate to make sure it's not bent and intermittently contacting the disc. #6. Aluminum radiator - from John Hoffner

Date: Mon, 03 Oct 2005 10:26:23 -0700 From: John Hoffner <jhoffner@gcfinc.com> Subject: Aluminum radiator I am at a point that I have to weigh the differences in replacing the radiator in my 95 M3 with an OEM version or aluminum one. Price is the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on the aluminum radiator. I don't need to drive the car for awhile so I'm in no hurry. Now for the questions. Have any of you ever seen a group buy or??? for aluminum radiators? Is there another option than Fluidyne that is cheaper in price and still worth buying. Thanks, John Hoffner

#7. oil cooler / radiator combo - from kevin ogrodnik

Date: Mon, 3 Oct 2005 09:04:20 -0700 (PDT) From: kevin ogrodnik <kwogrodnik@yahoo.com> Subject: oil cooler / radiator combo Anyone know if anyone sells a radiator with a integrated oil cooler? Similar to how a rad from an automatic would have a separate location for a tranny cooler. Speaking of which, could an auto rad be used for this? ie. hook up the oil cooler to the where the tranny cooler would normally be? Thanks in advance. Drops right into the E36 but has 3 cooling rows vice 2. yes it still has the crappy neck, but it's about 1/3 the price of the AL cooler.
