Less than some others and has a lifetime warranty. www.zionsvilleautosport.com I call it peace of mind. I you go to them, let them know you were referred by me from E36M3 list. Or, mention Bimmerforums.com. It helps grease the wheels. Might get you a break on price. #2. Hearing an engine sound - from Paul Smith

Date: Mon, 3 Oct 2005 13:13:39 -0500 From: "Paul Smith" <Paul.Smith@OntarioSystems.com> Subject: Hearing an engine sound When accelerating, I am hearing a sound that I can say is a vacuum-like sound or a hissing - not real loud. I have had many of the M50 motors (525, 325) and this one sounds louder. This is a 98 M3 with about 70,000 miles and it was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago because of a miss shift - now a short shift kid and UUC mounts. Should I be getting a 'check engine' light if this is a major issue? Should I not worry about it? It may have always sounded like this, but I believe I would have known. Sometimes they make an unusual vibration sound. You can loosen the mounts and tranny crossmember and make sure there is no binding. Wiggle the tranny around. Make sure it's centered. Then re-tighten. Might help. #4. Rogue Engineering E36 M3 Exhaust - from Roy Kao
Top
Date: Mon, 3 Oct 2005 14:28:06 -0400 From: Roy Kao <royckao@gmail.com> Subject: Rogue Engineering E36 M3 Exhaust Gruppe, I'm sure this subject has been discussed ad nauseum, but it's tough to search the digest archives so if you would please indulge me this time, I'd like some input from owner who have or had the RE DMS for the E36 M3. Suggested alternatives are also welcome...the car is becoming a more dedicated track car so can finally install a new exhaust on it for more noise. But I still want to avoid droning or other unpleasant harmonic distortions and would sacrifice some volume for a bearable noise throughout the rev range. TIA for your indulgence... -- _____________________ Roy - '99 M3 Estoril Blue

It is the cold air intake in my case, it is normally quiet when I re-install the stock air filter housing. Don't know if this is your situation, though -- if you have the stock airbox, I have no idea. An intake leak upstream of the MAFS would result in a rough idle and a "Lean condition" CEL. FWIW, I have the RE exhaust on the race car and like it. Lighter than stock, and a bit louder but not obnoxiously so. Especially on the race car that has ALL of the interior removed and a 3.91 diff, which makes it rev a bit higher than stock on freeway driving. Bolted right up, too (Hi MarkD! :-)). I have seen one here about 6 months ago. I'd be interested in a 'cooler version' if you wish to set up the GB. My only complaint is that the boss for the temp. sensor thread was marginally over sized. I sealed and is tight but less that ideal fit.
