#1. Need Passenger Seat Occupancy Sensor Mat - from NSimon1111@aol.com

Will be keeping stock belts and would like to retain functioning airbag system. To do so, I need to put an occupancy sensor mat under the passenger seat cushion. Rather than trying to remove the existing sensor mat from the stock seat -- which I'm sure is a pita -- I'm looking to simply get a replacement. I've been unable to find part number/source. Can anyone help? TIA. Neil Simon 99 M Coupe DC tags MDORPHN

Maybe I should look at is as being the first! LOL. The problem when I posted was the # 4 plug would not come out. As it turned out # 3 was the same. The solution was to spray WD40 down in there and let it sit over night. Then in the morning I tried again, still no good. I started turning the plug the other way (tightening) until I felt lots of resistance then went the other way. Back and forth for about 5 minutes and it worked itself loose. Both of them. Inspection of the plugs did not show any cross threading. I could hand tighten the new plugs down to where a wrench was needed for just a few turns or so. So just FYI. It is a very helpless feeling to think I either had plugs for life or was going to have to have someone pull the heads. Ed Frank 97 M3/4

I use a spark plug wrench like the one in the tool kit with a "T" handle. The wrench should spin freely all the way down. Once I get resistance, I go 1/2 turn. 1/4 to 1/2 turn will normally seat the plug and crush the washer. I've used this method on numerous cars (530i, E30 M3, Toyota...) A couple of turns beyond that is definitely TOOOO tight. Better to have a plug back out than strip the threads in the head. If track is your goal, the scilencers are really useless to you. And to be honest, while I did note a difference with the scilencers, it was not as much as I hoped for. The exhaust is not too loud in general, it is just not one of the more quiet ones. I liked mine, and recommend it. #7. Modifying sunglass holder for gauges... - from Dat Quach (quachd)

Date: Wed, 5 Oct 2005 13:37:40 -0700 From: "Dat Quach (quachd)" <quachd@cisco.com> Subject: Modifying sunglass holder for gauges... I recently received a kit that had an unusable modified sunglass holder (tabs were broken off the bottom). I will now have to modify one in order to use the kit and was wondering if anyone on the list cut the sides off their sunglass holder. It seems this would weaken the structure of the frame with the gauges mounted to the face, but the pictures I've seen of Jim Powell's modified sunglass holder seem to do just that (i.e. cut the sides off the sunglass holder frame). Any advice is appreciated. Dat '97 M3/2

They're the only ones I know of that will reliably hold up over time under track use with spacers. I had the Turner studs shear off at WGI after just one season of use. The RRT's are made of higher-strength material and according to RRT they're not even a wear/routine replacement item. And you can't cross-thread them even if you try. Just don't lubricate the nuts - ever. Dave Hogg #20 IS DNS at WGI 2004 due to studs
