Has anyone had a failure or particular problem with Brembo rotors (not big brake rotors, just the standard OE blanks, no cross-drilled, no slotted)? Thanks in advance. Regards, Rich

I know some people have tried the Harbor freight version with varying degrees of success. any others out there that people would recommend? Still bmw, well not quite, but anyway. Looking to pick up a set of 16" wheels for my wife's Mini Cooper S if anyone has a friend or a good source. I wrote: << I noticed a rhythmic clicking sound coming from the right rear of my M3 (106K miles, lots of track time) . It increases in frequency with road speed and goes away when I apply the brakes. Does this sound like a wheel bearing? >> I had the opportunity to dig into this problem last night and here's what I found so far: CV joint boots are intact, no tears or cracks at all. Movement of the axle through the joint appears to have no slop. Rear brakes are about 75% worn but the caliper dust seals are intact and there is little resistance pressing the pistons back into the calipers. Although they are due a rebuild, I don't think there's any binding here. With the calipers removed there was still grinding and resistance when trying to turn the wheels. I backed off the parking brake adjusters approximately 1/3 of a revolution and "Hey Presto", no more resistance. I adjusted the parking brakes a couple of months ago when I installed new brake rotors, there was no rubbing then. I removed the right side rotor and found a nice coating of rust forming on the inside of the rotor hat. I am guessing that I adjusted the parking brakes too close to the rotor (they would stop the car at 4 clicks of the handle) and as soon as the rotors started to rust, the pads started to bind. I did also notice that when I turn each wheel, the axle will rotate a small amount before the differential starts to rotate the other axle. The amount of movement is very small, maybe 1-2 degrees, but I am wondering if this is normal or if it is indicative of some sort of differential issue. I will put everything back together this weekend after I install new pads, bleed the brakes and make a few suspension adjustments. I'll post again after I test drive the car and verify that the problem is gone. Regards -- Jamie Howton 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL

It's a little cheap filling (probably because it's pretty cheap) but it seems to hold up pretty well. I don't personally have one, but one friend in particular has been using his 12-15 weekends a year for the past two or three years without issue. And he isn't gentle with his tools. The bolt holding the front roller in place failed this year but was easily replaced. I use it for both home and track work and always back it up with jackstands. Even a huge heavy iron / steel floor jack requires backup with jackstands. Best of all, they're cheap enough now to be considered wear items. They're what - 60% the cost of the craftsman piece so you can afford to buy a new one every year or two if you're concerned about how well it holds up to repeat stress. The main concern with it that I'm aware of is always using it on a flat surface so there is no odd twisting force on the jack. It will not stand up to that.
