Date: Thu, 27 Oct 2005 20:29:02 -0400 From: "Jack - Elephant Motorsports" <jack@elephantmotorsports.com> Subject: FS: BBS RCJ forged wheels, 18x9 I gotta make some room in the garage, new project stuff is arriving and I'm short on space. Selling my spare set of BBS RCJ (forged RC's) wheels...set meaning 4. Size is 18x9, ET42, 5x120. No tires, just wheels. The wheels are in excellent shape, only used a few times (probably less than 6 times), one has some curb rash but it's more scratched clear coat than gouges in the wheels. All wheels are straight and true, no other damage except the aforementioned rash. These are pretty lightweight, can't recall exactly but I think they're about 18lbs, maybe a bit less. I run them on an E36 M3 with stock size FG fenders w/a 20mm spacer, no rubbing. Rears fit stock rotors/set up with no rubbing but I'm pretty sure my fenders are rolled pretty well, YMMV. Pics available upon request, asking $1700 plus shipping from 48116. Email with interest/questions. Thanks. Jack Money #86 CM M3 ---> For Sale @ $32k w/spares! Engine temp never really came up past the blue cold square. Its not pegged cold, but the gauge indicates max min cold (aka, right side of blue cube). Predictions? I have the peak scanner in the glove box, but the book is at home...... Patrick Goss 97 M3/4

#3. Car Trailer Brake Parts - from Stan Shaw

Date: Fri, 28 Oct 2005 13:54:22 -0400 From: "Stan Shaw" <Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net> Subject: Car Trailer Brake Parts Does anyone have a recommendation of trailer brake parts? I had a wheel bearing let go today, resulting in all five wheel studs being sheared. Other the wheel bending the fender there was no other damage, since it happened at low speed. My car trailer has two axles, but only one with brakes. I want to add brakes to the second axle, and if cost effective replace the existing components. The existing components use a Dexter 8-247 brake drum. Fortunately the M3 was on the trailer but unimpaired, unfortunately I lost another track day.... My bottom end finally expired after 17,000 track/race miles and way too much time above 5k rpms. It lived a good long life... Please contact me if you have any leads, either on or off list is fine. Don't trailers see less mileage and essentially last forever? Isn't it viable that one would expect them to at least outlast the towing vehicle, assuming the trailer isn't hooked up 100% of the time, (unless of course it was lighter duty than required). -----Original Message----- From: Stan Shaw [mailto:Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net] Sent: Friday, October 28, 2005 2:02 PM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] Car Trailer Brake Parts Date: Fri, 28 Oct 2005 13:54:22 -0400 From: "Stan Shaw" <Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net> Subject: Car Trailer Brake Parts Does anyone have a recommendation of trailer brake parts? I don't think I was close to exceeding the load capacity, just the M3 and a few hundred pounds of tires and gas. With two 3500# axles, the load capacity would be 7k. #8. e46 rims on an e36? - from Adam Lazur
Top
Date: Fri, 28 Oct 2005 19:20:46 -0400 From: Adam Lazur <adam@lazur.org> Subject: e46 rims on an e36? Has anybody tried running 17x8 rims with et47 offset on an e36 m3? Will they fit without spacers? If nobody knows off the top of their head, I'll try it out tomorrow and post a followup. My story: I have a one badly worn tire on my m3. I had the alignment done to hopefully correct the problem. I ordered 2 replacement tires in the same brand/size over a week ago, but the local tire place screwed me by not telling me the tires were back ordered... so here I am, scheming to figure out a way to get my m3 to autox on Sunday for some fun before the snow starts. It's the last autox of the season in the Lexington/Louisville/Cinci area, so I'm motivated. The lightbulb goes off in my head: my wife's '00 328i has bmw type 44 rims on it with good tires :) -- Adam Lazur

#9. Sway bar link bent - from j. helffrich
Top
Date: Fri, 28 Oct 2005 16:23:02 -0700 (PDT) From: "j. helffrich" <girolamous@yahoo.com> Subject: Sway bar link bent Hi All, I took my 1997 M3/4 to the track last weekend at TWS (College Station, TX) and went off one turn into the infield. It didn't seem too bad at the time, but I noticed a handling change (tire squeal) and when I pulled into the pits I found my LF sway bar link had bent and ripped out of the strut. I disconnected the rear link and drove the rest of the weekend without incident. When I drove home, nothing felt bad, but I took the car to a body shop to weld the link mounting hole back in and they said that the frame was bent up 3mm on that corner. I am not sure whether to believe them or not, since they may just want work or be incompetent. Is it reasonable to expect that the frame could be bent going off at 60 mph without bending control arms or ripping strut mounts? Is straightening the frame possible or necessary given that I drove it 200 miles home and felt no problems? I would like to replace the strut, but it has a nice nearly new Koni yellow in it and I've got other expenses right now. I welcome suggestions. Will > they fit without spacers? I had my E46 330i Sport package wheels on my E36M3, I don't know what offset they were, that car is long gone. They were 18" x 8" with a 225 tire up front and 18" x 8-1/2" with a 255 in the rear; "M" V-Spoke Style 72. http://www.howton.net/images/95M3/DSCN1315.jpg I had the stock suspension on it at the time, I don't think there'd be enough room in the rear without rolling the fenders if it was lowered. It doesn't hurt to try though, just be careful lowering the car until you know they fit. You could have bought tires from the Tirerack for Saturday delivery, but I think you might be a bit late now. It's worth checking out anyway www.tirerack.com. Regards -- Jamie Howton 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL
