This was a possibility with my e30's rear output shaft seal. I ended up breaking the tranny mount and replacing the transmission before I got a chance to test the theory. But I had more than one competent mechanic say its a possibility. The only fix would for that would be to open up the transmission and replace the selector shaft. Date: Thu, 3 Nov 2005 12:13:27 -0500 From: Robert Manger <Robert_Manger@Mastercard.com> Subject: Caliper Bushing upgrade As I recall there was some discussion about a supporting vendor of the list offering the caliper bushing upgrade kits. Does anyone recall who said vendor is? I am going to be working on the brakes again so I might as well put these on at the same time. #10. ABS Error Code 17 - from M540
Top
Date: Sat, 5 Nov 2005 12:42:13 -0500 From: "M540" <m540@bellsouth.net> Subject: ABS Error Code 17 All: I've had an illuminated ABS light on my 10/94 build 1995 M3 for a while and just got the BMW tech to read the codes. The error came up as code 17, "Fault in the power supply of all solenoid valves or operation of front left inlet valve faulty". The dealer claims the usual suspects in this case are the control unit ($$$$) and the ABS pump ($$$$$). This seems like a hasty conclusion to my amateur self. Do any of you know of any usual suspects that might be worth checking before throwing down big bucks for these parts? Thank you, Kevin
