Close, but not quite :-) Street cars: E36M3 E39M5 Z06 E46330i CTS-V Race / track cars: '89 IROC - had for 10 years '91 Corvette - had for 6 years and still own I am re-evaluating my track-use and trying to decide if owning a dedicated track car plus the associated tow rig and trailer is really worth it. I've been in that mode for more than 10 years and with the amount I get to the track (4-5 times / year) the strategy of a dedicated race car _ tow rig is making less and less sense. Especially since the C4 is a very expensive car to campaign in a competitive road racing series and there is not much place to run it anyway other than SCCA ITE. And I really don't have the time / budget to go whole-hog down that road. So I am considering my alternatives if I dump the race car which include: - street / track car capable of driving to/from events - such as E36 M3, RX8 or Sub sti - run the CTS-V for track days running the CTS-V worries me because the car is worth a lot of coin and tracking can certainly cause some damage, plus the car does weigh 3850lbs so while the handling is quite amazing for such a heavy car, it still is a heavy car and will be eating tires among other things. Brakes are simply outstanding, however - 4-piston brembos with 14-14.5" rotors all round!! Either way, I'm keeping the CTS-V as my street car. Love it - fits all my daily driver needs quite well. Date: Mon, 14 Nov 2005 13:01:37 -0500 From: <cteague@cox.net> Subject: Re: [E36M3] wheel fitment Bob, I think the answer is no. But you want ~42mm offset in the rear. That's likely going to rub the strut in front though. Most every AutoX M3 I know runs spacers in front. I don't see a problem with that. It is possible with some tires that they may clear the strut in front. In the rear, if the wheel is in too much, it rubs on the inside, and if it is pushed out too much, it rubs on the fender. I think the easy answer it get something that will work in back, and put the right spacer on in front. I know this has been discussed before, but what offset is required to fit a 8.5" wide wheel front AND back without the need for spacers?? My rear fenders are already rolled. I have 17x8 SSR Integrals (et=41mm) that allow me to rotate them after each event. For 8.5" wide the front will be tight next to the strut while the back will be close to the fender. Is there an offset that can handle both without spacers??

For AutoX tires, like the 255/40 Victoracers that I ran, they would not clear the strut with the stock 41mm ET wheels. I would assume that since Bob wanted these for AutoX, he was probably going to run some decent size on the tires, and that's what may get into trouble. But if so, just add the appropriate spacer. If not, you are all set. Chris > Date: Mon, 14 Nov 2005 10:28:00 -0800 (PST) > From: "Kent L. I have 235-40 toyo RA1s on them for the track, and run the four 7.5" wheels with pilots on the street. Zach

I'm willing to give up the CD changer so I can get something that I can hook up an iPod to. The Dension unit costs near the same as a new head unit. But I'd like something that will also play AAC files, not just MP3's or WMA format. I see Kenwood, and others have AAC playback and iPod hookup. What is a good aftermarked head unit to replace my C33 (97 M3) with the following requirements: 1) Looks as close to OEM as possible in style 2) iPod hookup (Aux input or direct iPod connection OK) 3) Plays AAC format files from a CD-R thanks!
