#1. Euro airbox for CA smog? - from Juan Bruce

Date: Mon, 21 Nov 2005 11:56:02 -0800 From: Juan Bruce <jbruce@gmail.com> Subject: Euro airbox for CA smog? I have the conforti/shrick cam kit (cams, euro HFM, intake, chip, injectors) on my '95 M3 and its time to do a smog test. In CA part of the visual inspection requires having the stock air intake. If I need a factory looking airbox, am I correct in thinking that I need a Euro airbox to match up with the diameter of the Euro HFM? If so, does anyone have one that want to get rid of? Thanks, Juan '95 M3 OBDI 3.2 ..:: Juan Bruce :: jbruce@gmail.com :: +1.650.218.0442 ::.

You don't want to have to buy more OE BMW coolant than you have to, the price skyrocketed this year, glad I bought a close-out case of it two years ago at $6 per gallon. I think current BMW list price is in the $20 - $26 range. Later, Rich

Bimmerzone.com has an overstock of new Behr and Nissen they are dumping on Ebay for 134.95 + $20 shipping. I take it the radiator neck blew and spewed out some coolant (guessing from the context - did not see the original post). If some coolant is still in the engine block, leave it there. Since its only 3 months old, its as good a new. Add more coolant/distilled water mix to refill what had leaked out. > I would never think of putting it back in without a the filter step. I would never think of draining it out in the first place. If I did, I would just pour the new stuff in to avoid the filtering mess. At first I thought it was the cap gone bad. After inspection I have coolant on the driver's side plastic tank. The neck isn't broken, but Along the plastic aluminum interface I see coolant. The hoses are fine (Samco) and I checked the clamps. There is no coolant immediately below the hose. So I need to drain the coolant from the radiator to put the new one in. Kent > "Kent L. I got one - fit perfect, was a Nissen brand (Holland). The two hose connecting tubes are different than the Bahr one - instead of the multiple rings like the Bahr has - there was one ring right near the tip, the rest was smoothish plastic.. making it thicker around where they like to break. It must use a slightly different rivet on the right side where the fan shroud fastens.. had to open up the hole just a bit to fit the one from the old radiator. This is easier to do before install (DAMHIK..) so you may want to check this before installing it. And you can install it without fan removal (my fan was being uncooperative..) remove the shroud, pull it back and over the fan, remove the hoses and take radiator straight up.. Assembly=reverse I figured for that price I could do it every 75k miles if necessary (the old one looked just FINE when I took it out, it's in the loft as a spare..) Hmmm, isn't the flimsy neck is also on the driver side... are you sure you don't see some coolant right below the neck? I noticed splatters of coolant coming out of nowhere before the neck fell-offs. Either way, at 96K, your radiator has been past-due. > So I need to drain the coolant from the radiator to put the > new one in. You will not drain more than 1/4 of the coolant in the system. Don't worry about the loss. Just add more until the new radiator is full and call it even. Don't forget to keep the bleed screw open as you add liquid/run the engine. HTH, alex f > > "Kent L.
