I got a set of 4 7.5" 10 spokes that have served as "rain tire for the track" wheels. They are true but not as pretty as they once were. There is no reason that with a little Wurths paint they couldn't look new again but.... they aren't really wide or light enough for me. $400 and I deliver in and around 08054 or 18411 or anywhere in between for a pint of ale ;) -- Walter Jordan Don Eilenberger wrote: > Date: Thu, 24 Nov 2005 19:59:40 -0500 > From: Don Eilenberger <deilenberger@yahoo.com> > Subject: Anyone have Motorsport 10 spokes laying around? > > The original M3 rims? > > http://www.wheelcollision.com/wccpix/59202.jpg > > My bargain winter tires/rims turned out to be not such a bargain > since two of the rims wobble.. and although it's only about 1/8" > it is enough to get a nice shimmy going. > > Looking for bargains, pretty isn't that important - not bent > is. Bimmerparts.com lists a pump repair kit, so maybe? <shrug> > A couple of cans of brake cleaner will have it sparkling again, Oh, I know <g>. Just the thought of having to do that, though.... > I would re-torque the banjo bolts, clean it up via the aforementioned > method and see if you can pinpoint the source of the leak. I saw it while under the car doing an oil change, and looked around the best I could. Probably stop by Bill Arnold's on the way into work Monday and have him look at it as well. > I wouldn't > suspect a leaky pump unless you've got a ton of miles 162,000. > or it's obvious > that's where it's leaking from. Well, more process-of-elimination on my part, as it was obviously NOT any of the usual places and the leakage appeared to be originating at or around the pump. <shrug> We'll see if I have any more info on Monday. Thanks for the feedback. Jim Bassett

If you're actually getting coolant out of it I'm guessing your heater core is leaking. yuck. not a fun DIY job. Tracked down a coolant leak to above the transmission, exiting from what appears to be a body drain sock, or maybe a condensate line from the AC/Heater Core? Anyone know what this rubber drain sock ties back into? I'm sloggin through realoem.com without much luck. #6. Fuel filter cover removal - from Chris Teague

Date: Sat, 26 Nov 2005 17:18:47 -0800 From: "Chris Teague" <cteague@cox.net> Subject: Fuel filter cover removal I have a 97 M3 with a fuel filter that needs to be replaced. It looks like it's in an easy location to remove. But I got stuck on the metal cover. I know, it sounds stupid. There are 2 bolts that come out very easy, and 2 fasteners that look like studs. They are covered in the factory undercoating. I tried using pliers, but I couldn't figure out how to remove these last 2 screws or whatever they are. They almost look like rivets. So what's the secret? thanks, Chris

They have those cheapo press-formed sheet metal nuts screwed onto them. They're probably the ones covered in undercoating. Unless the nuts are missing. Try scraping off the undercoating and you may find the nuts. I don't think there are any secret fasteners. At least not on my '97. #8. Tranny Leak - from Raza Uddin
Top
Date: Sun, 27 Nov 2005 21:19:36 -0800 From: Raza Uddin <raza.uddin@gmail.com> Subject: Tranny Leak Hope everyone is doing well after Thanksgiving. My car already feels sluggish after lugging around the extra pounds I've put on, but anyway... I seemed to have developed a tranny leak. I've always noticed a little moistness around the top of the tranny and minimal fluid dribble along the right side of the tranny. However, last week I flushed the tranny and topped it off with some new Redline in anticipation of an trackday. After the track day, I noticed a drop or two of fluid on the floor. With the car in the air, I was able to pinpoint the leak to the reverse switch, as it is covered in fluid. Is there a rubber seal on the switch that needs replacement? Does this require a whole new switch or a replacement gasket/seal? I really have no idea of what the switch looks like out of the tranny (didn't have a chance to take it out), so does anyone have a picture outside of the tranny? Better yet any ideas or suggestions on how to rectify? Thanks in advance! Drive Safely, Raza
