The car started turning over progressively slower every morning over a weeks time until now it won't crank at all. He said there is power getting to the lights... Before I head out of town to look at his car I would appreciate any advice on where to start looking. I will be driving to his house tomorrow (12/03/05) And I can be reached at 314 616-9575 most any time or this email address until 5:00 PM today. Thanks, John Hoffner

I would guess it is the battery, especially if it is the original one. Working headlights is one test, but even if the headlights work, the battery can still lack the current to crank the engine. The lights take much less power to run than the starter. The colder weather will make it worse... #5. Check Engine light followed by a misfiring cylinder. - from scott noltensmeier

Date: Fri, 2 Dec 2005 17:01:11 -0800 (PST) From: scott noltensmeier <snoltens@yahoo.com> Subject: Check Engine light followed by a misfiring cylinder. Last night while traveling up hill/ while raining… I encountered a CE light followed by a successively rough running engine as I traveled 70 mph with 10 miles to go. Once home… I stopped/restarted the engine and to my surprise the problem went away. The diagnostic identified that the #2 cylinder misfired. I cleared the code/drove the car -- now appears to be OK. What happened? Do I have a spark plug/coil problem? Did I do any damage? THANKS!!! Scott, E36M3 96’ 2D Silver.

Seems there are a few resources out there -- can folks recommend a good vendor for OE parts? Great of they're on the West coast. I need to buy some tie rods, and some control arms, and some bushings, and maybe some OE shocks/springs, and... I've seen these mentioned: - Pacific BMW - Pelican parts - Bavarian autosport Thanks, Scott '97 M3/2, new to me, in the refurbishing phase...

I have been buying mine from bmaparts.com - free shipping for orders over $50. I recently paid $106 for a pair of front Brembo rotors, for example. They had the best price. I have experienced great customer service so far! It was making a whining/groaning noise prior to that, but it's back to normal now. Regards -- Jamie Howton 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL
