You may consider buying a set of camber plates, and adjusting the camber out for the street.. It will probably allow you to keep the street tires alive longer.. Be well! However, the Soft compound (from what I have heard and experienced in my student's car) is different. They have been using it for autox and there are a few racers out there running these (hence the question to the list). They are on sale at Tirerack (close out), so I asked.... I guess I will stick to my good ole RA1s :) For the street, I guess I am going to try the Hankook S2s (quite a lot of folks have been raving about them). Given that I go through a set every year (high negative camber being the culprit) the price/performance seems to fit my application. Thanks for everyone who responded. Ahmad

#3. Oil Distribution Block ? - from Robert Manger

Date: Tue, 13 Dec 2005 15:35:47 -0500 From: Robert Manger <Robert_Manger@Mastercard.com> Subject: Oil Distribution Block ? Tom, My early prod M3 has the issue, I decided to cap off one of the holes that would be used for the stock idiot light and purchase a vdo sender that does 2 different pressures, one for the gauge and one for the idiot light then the other port was used for oil temp. Rob Date: Tue, 13 Dec 2005 07:53:02 -0500 From: "Tom Tice" <tetice@triad.rr.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Oil Distribution Block ? After a bit of searching, I think I found the answer to my question. Apparently the older E36s do have a problem (I'd love to hear from anyone who has found otherwise) with the ODB. I believe the solution is to retrofit a later oil filter housing. Also my question regarding the M5 sender was a mistake, I meant an oil temp sender rather than oil pressure - so still looking for that part number. On my E30 M3 I bypassed this and plugged the plenum, the separator gets vented to atmostphere (or catch can if appropriate, I never needed it). Why would you want oil vaper in the air coming into your plenum and reducing it's cleanliness? Now for a race motor this is obvious to undo this "feature" for track/street not so. But again, this is what I would check. I find it interesting that so many people keep the crank case vent routed to the plenum...dirty air. FWIW those tires were very sensitive to pressure from what I understand. You had to run them lower than other R-compounds so if you generally run your tires at 40 psi hot that was too much and they'd be gone in no time. I never tried a set (too many horror stories) and a buddy of mine had one go down in a race, he spun and got collected. Expensive lesson. -Carlos. 98 M3 PS Where any of you guys at VIR last weekend, I was in one of the co-driven E46 M3s, just figured I'd ask now that it's too late. At least 3-4 E36 M3s were there.
