#3. Warranty Ending - from Edward N Frank

Date: Wed, 28 Dec 2005 12:40:16 -0500 From: "Edward N Frank" <enf@iglou.com> Subject: Warranty Ending My extended warranty is about to come to an end. I can extend it further but I have not explored the costs. I know that some of you around here have been real savy at getting the most out of the warranty from the dealers you work with and was looking for suggestions. I already know that something has to be wrong before they will do anything (at least with my dealer) but was wondering about some things that may be more subjective and they will do the work anyway. I use warranty Direct and had the 100,000 plan which takes care of about anything. I seem to recall Sue being pretty good with this but any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Date: Wed, 28 Dec 2005 13:09:30 -0500 From: "Paul Smith" <Paul.Smith@OntarioSystems.com> Subject: Fault code reader question I have the peake tool to diagnose issues. Will it work on a 2000 740? Mine is for a 98 M3 and the instructions did not have this car listed. Is it that the instructions are old or it will not work on that car? #6. Steering Rack - from Dave Swingle

Date: Wed, 28 Dec 2005 14:16:13 -0600 From: "Dave Swingle" <swingle@dmcnews.com> Subject: Steering Rack In the process of replacing my tie rods (99 E36M3 - 78K miles) I found that the rack boot on the passenger side is full of oil, well not full but way more inside than I'm used to seeing. The other one was not like this, nor were the ones on an E39 I recently worked on. Is this at all normal or am I about to be shopping for a rack? Dave Swingle

Your mods were very well thought out. Education does come first, trust me you're doing the right thing. The end result will be worth it. I stopped at a MS degree and 25 years later wished I'd waited on those pay checks for the PhD, which has been my only roadblock to teaching at the college level.
