Dave Hogg __________________________________________________________________________ Dave, No you wont!. Re-read the updated rule book appendix A "Appendix A from the new rule book: It is recommended that all cages be welded into the car, and all tubing joints welded. No one could prove that bolt in cages are less safer than weld ins. The problem was that there were a few guys out there (C MOD) who were running with 2 or so bolts and the rest loose (it was more of a tech issue). As long as you put Loctite on them and torque them good, you should be golden. A.L. PS: Some folks on the forum came back saying 99% of the bolt ins are junks and its comparable to running old Snell 95 helmet duct taped together, and that I don't value my life enough to run bolt in cages and what not. Called up reputable cage builders and have facts to prove otherwise.

#7. Treehouse Eyeball Arms Install, and a Question - from Patrick Kelly
Top
Date: Wed, 4 Jan 2006 12:22:47 -0500 From: "Patrick Kelly" <pkelly@agincourtcapital.com> Subject: Treehouse Eyeball Arms Install, and a Question I installed new front LCA's along with the Treehouse Racing (list sponsor, plug, plug) eyeball arms this weekend on my '95 and thought I'd give a quick review. Removal of old LCA's was pretty straightforward, and I'd like to publicly thank my humble little bottle jack for its assistance in breaking the old ball joints loose (hammer pickle fork in, place bottle jack under pickle fork end, jack up slightly, and *bam*). Original ball joints worn but not loose, and original lollipop bushings only slightly torn on either side of their "windows" on my 106k mile daily driver/3x per year driving school car. The eyeball arms are a MUCH easier install than pressing in new lollipop bushings; they slide right onto the ends of the LCA's. The only trouble I had putting in the new LCA's was one of the ball joints (drivers' side suspension carrier) wanted to spin when I tightened it. Luckily, these outer ball joints have a hex fitting in the top of the threaded stud, so I could keep it from spinning as I tightened the nut (always use new nuts-they're single use) with a box-end wrench. Driving impressions: Nice and tight, with a slight but noticeable increase in NVH (but I've got a UUC exhaust, so what's a little more noise?) and much improved steering feel. Doesn't feel like I even need an alignment (the eyeball arms are set up for '95's), but I'll keep a close eye on tire wear. Quick question: I still have a little wiggle with the front wheels off the ground, when grabbing a front tire at 3 and 9 o'clock and moving it back and forth. I thought this was entirely due to worn ball joints.am I looking at a new rack before too long, or there any way to further tighten things up? Pat Kelly 95 M3 pkelly@agincourtcapital.com

Date: Wed, 04 Jan 2006 14:18:09 -0500 From: "Tom Melton" <Tom.Melton@emoryhealthcare.org> Subject: [E36M3] Re: seats? Stan, Under section 7 (Body/Chassis/Interior pgs 27-28) in the specifications for Stock Class vehicles, subsection E (Spoilers, Splitters, Airdams and Wings)... 1. Definitions a. Splitter * An aerodynamic piece which is parallel to the ground and attaches to the bottom of the front bumper cover or airdam. 2. Requirements a. Spoilers and splitters are free providing they do not exceed maximum body width and do not extend rearwards past the front axle centerline. Installed devices must be consistent with the spirit of the original design of the car such as those presented by aftermarket sources. For example, homemade panels attached to the car would not conform to the spirit of the original design unless they emulate such a part, such as splitter panel. Dive plates are prohibited. Can the above perhaps imply the JTD panel is a "part" of your splitter, and thus since it does not extend past the front axle centerline it woould be legal? That is what I am banking on for my prepared car. -Tom >>> "Stan Shaw" <Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net> 1/4/2006 2:08:32 PM >>> Date: Wed, 4 Jan 2006 14:05:24 -0500 From: "Stan Shaw" <Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net> Subject: Re: seats?
