The LMR was the prototype car that BMW successfully campaigned in the Lemans series a few years ago. It was a V12 and they won basically on fuel economy. They shoe horned that sucker into the X5 and voila. I forgot what record Hans Stuck broke driving that car around the Ring. --- Michael Michalski <m.michalski@comcast.net> wrote: > I am not sure what an LMR powered X5 is and I don't speak German, but I > think they said it's fast and handles great. I used the thicker 9mm pads and my stock M3 pads (they sort of nest together). Been this way for about 30K miles and numerous track days with no problems. Jeff 98 M3/4 84 E30 KP - For sale! #9. JT-Design Under Panel's in CCA Stock/Prepared class - NOT - from Peter Vinsel
Top
Date: Fri, 6 Jan 2006 14:37:02 -0800 From: "Peter Vinsel" <pcvinsel@pacbell.net> Subject: JT-Design Under Panel's in CCA Stock/Prepared class - NOT From the 2006 final rules: Stock section: "7.G. Modifications to the underside of the vehicle for the purpose of improving aerodynamics are not allowed (e.g., diffusers), except for splitters as allowed." Prepared section: No application reference. Modified section: "9.M. Underbody aerodynamic aids are not permitted between the front and rear axles. Undertrays are allowed between the front of the car and the front axles, and rear diffusers/venturi devices are allowed between the rear axle and the rear of the car. Rear underbody aerodynamics must terminate no further back than 1" past the rear of the stock bumper location." Someone raised the point that the the JT-Design under panel could be considered part of the splitter that is specifically allowed in Stock class. That logic falls apart since this undertrays are specifically allowed in Modified. If the rules makers considered undertrays part of a splitter, they would not have specifcally referenced them in Modified. As far as the JT-Design under panel not being an aerodynamic aid, I think the following marketing info on the jt-design.com website would counter that argument: "Performance enthusiast will appreciate the flat panel's ability to accelerate airflow underneath the spoiler. This accelerated airflow creates a low-pressure area under the spoiler, most commonly known as "Downforce"." My interpretation of the 2006 rules is that JT-Design under panels are very clearly not allowed in Stock or Prepared class. pcv

The JT-Designs piece fits this criteria if it's an undertray, and it is not between the front and rear axles. That's my interpretation with limited information and no prior knowledge of BMWCCA rule sets, although I have read and contemplated my fair share of ccrs, rules, etc....
