On my other car, the license plate lights are in the bumper cover, so there was a grommet available to run the wiring through so that I had a nice tidy installation. I realize I could just run the wires out of the trunk while the trailer is attached, but I would like a more professional and permanent means of installation Anyone care to share how they have run their trailer light wiring. Had a Jeep with the outside connector but it was constantly clogged with grit, water, etc. and didn't make consistent connections. These are discontinued; I had a flat and realized it when I got up to highway speeds when I felt the wheel bobble. Long story short, one of the tire is destroyed and I have 3 good (5/32) tires mounted. If anyone has a tire sitting somewhere collecting dust, I will take it off your hands. Thanks, A.L.

I'm sure he might nibble for some sick sum of money. Have you considered an E39 540it? Do you really need full M power for the street? I came close to buying a 540it, but opted for an Allroad to get more hauling capacity and baby-seat-loading friendly ride height. Forced induction is a PIA, though. That shouldn't be hard too hard to find either. Just a thought, Jonathan L.

#8. trailer lights - from RFKoby@aol.com
Top
Date: Mon, 13 Feb 2006 16:04:44 EST From: RFKoby@aol.com Subject: trailer lights I bought the converter for the trailer lights at a local RV trailer supply. Something like $25 or so for it. The wiring is easy. Tap into the LEFT turn signal and stop lights, and 1 wire for the RIGHT turn signal lights. I did nothing to route the harness outside of the car. I just left the harness in the trunk, and when needed, just make the connection outside of the car, and close the trunk on the wire. I do this all the time, no harm, and no damage to the wires, paint, trunk, or trunk seal. bob 95 M3 (45,800 miles) for sale :-(

#10. strut hat question - from Tom Tice
Top
Date: Mon, 13 Feb 2006 21:30:22 -0500 From: "Tom Tice" <tetice@triad.rr.com> Subject: strut hat question I was in the process of finishing a spring swap going to the H&R OE sports on my '98 M3. This necessitated a change to the larger '95 style upper spring hats. With these larger hats, I now appear to have a clearance problem between the strut housing and the larger spring hats. Just to be clear, I am using the later '98 upper strut bearings swapped left to right for greater camber, the H&R OE Sports and the larger spring hats. Anyone else have this setup or problem? It appears to just barely clear on the driver's side while it has a serious problem on the passenger side. TIA, Tom Tice '98 M3/4 '93 325iS Race Car '02 325iT '02 X5 4.4
