#5. e36 325i vs. M3 axles/half shafts - from geoff atkinson

Date: Tue, 28 Feb 2006 09:26:38 -0500 From: "geoff atkinson" <pskalc@hotmail.com> Subject: e36 325i vs. M3 axles/half shafts Hi Everyone, I've been working on this conglomeration of parts which has amounted to a race car, and have a question regarding axles. Are the 325i and M3 drive axle splines that go into the hub interchangeable? I know that the inner flanges that bolt to the diff are different diameters...The bearings, hubs and trailing arms are different. But, if you're starting with 325i arms, hubs, bearings, can an M3 (late or early) drive axle be installed? If not, can inner CV joint rebuild kits be used on a "325" drive axle? Thanks for any information or help. -Geoff Atkinson

Before the track/race season gets underway. "You have a choice of color, Black, or Black". Henry Ford on the colors of the Model T.... I will get a price together and post it in a week or so. Probably do a nicer quality T shirt this time. I wasn't to happy with my T shirt :-( More to come Gary Gray

Top
Date: Tue, 28 Feb 2006 11:23:57 -0800 From: "marco" <m3driver@iname.com> Subject: [E36M3] RE: Brake Caliper Pistons I found a piston from a E36 M3 in my spares box. I've forgotten if it's rear or front. If someone has the dimensions I'll measure it. No rust on it. I'm pretty sure it's from a rear caliper. I twisted off one of the bleed screws a few years back and broke a easy out in trying to remove it. I scored a set of rear calipers on Ebay - I'm pretty sure I removed the piston from the old caliper in case I needed it in the future. I'll let it go fairly cheap.
