They've done several of the decals that are on the race car, and recently the name/blood type/tetanus info for the back of my new helmet. Cheers, Jim Bassett

It went pretty much as expected, with a loosened oil pan allowing the front timing cover to come off, but without removing the head it took a bit of patience to get the primary chain off of the guide rail. A side by side comparo of the old and new chains showed at most a 1mm difference while hanging, but it quieted the chain slap I was hearing quite nicely. Unfortunately, now I've got a failing head gasket overpressurizing the cooling system and crank case, blowing coolant out the cap and oil out the filler cap. The failed water pump and overheat I had shortly after I got the car about four years ago must have been the original culprit, but it's only now worsened to the point that I've been able to figure out what's been causing my problems. I've tried posting to the list twice today and I've received the digest without a hint of my message. No error replies either. At any rate, I was fishing for wisdom on how best to drive (my only vehicle at the moment) without worsening the problem. I've been going very easy on the throttle and accelerating very mildly thinking lower power demand will keep peak chamber pressures lower, but I've got a week and a half before I'll be able to replace it, so I must live with the beast as best I can. I put a link on bf.c with my original message and some more details, but I'd appreciate any wisdom I can get. I'm planning on getting the HG kit from elephantmotorsports, but I'll need to find the bolts as well as anything else I can replace while working on it (valve guides, stem seals, etc...) http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php? p=6028495#post6028495 Cheers, Steve On Mar 1, 2006, at 6:21 PM, Chester Wong wrote: > Hi Steve, > > Did you ever complete the whole timing chain R&R? > > --- Steve Klein <s.klein@steveklein.cc> wrote: > >> Date: Wed, 1 Mar 2006 18:14:52 -0600 >> From: Steve Klein <s.klein@steveklein.cc> >> Subject: JustaTest >> >> testing... >> >> Bueler? Does the control arm assembly warp or crack? is there any reason to replace the whole thing? ease of installation? (no pressing of bushings) Thanks, Mark

If you think about the control arm layout, it should pull to the right?? The thing that bugs me is that it's very uneven and creates problems at extremely high speeds which I do sometimes. I think I might spend the money for the full replacement control arms and urethane bushings. Only trouble is I'm selling the car soon (6 months max), and it'd be nice to know if the buyer is a racer or a collector as it would change my decision on which parts to use. All this aftermarket love is foolish to me. Stock got me to 170,000 miles without a single failure. Thanks, Mark
