I used them per Steve's recommendation a year ago, and probably am going to have to use them again by the end of the week. Shipping was quick and not having to pay shipping or sales tax was a real plus to me. They were able to match Pacific's prices too. Maybe you have to ask. Shipping was approx. $15. It was a large heavy box with about 20 parts in it, so I think $15 was fair. Another large box came on Monday with 3 more parts. Shipping was $5. I did have to mention I was a CCA member to get the low prices. What part of this surprises you? Dinan spends a lot of time in development and test (I know this from visiting their facility and spending some time with Steve Dinan). Why would they give out their spring rates so you can go buy the same springs for less $$ from someone else who hasn't committed the time and resources to do the R&D? R&D is a business expense that has to be covered. > Thanks, Dinan. Your E36 stuff is overpriced cr@p, IMO. Dinan is not cheap, but their quality is excellent and their manufacturing is sound. I was particularly impressed at how fundamentally they understand the need for process in manufacturing and development - not many shops "get" that. - Mark ----- mark@pdc-racing.net Check out my JustRacing Home Page at: http://www.justracing.com/homepage/mdadgar

Date: Tue, 14 Mar 2006 14:35:39 -0800 From: "Brian Ruiz" <eurowerke@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] check coolant message I had my VANOS replaced this past summer, and I had a new and unused level sensor that I had bought for my now departed 325 that was having the same problem before it went away :'(. I went to the shop before they were done putting in the new VANOS, and since I'm friends with the shop owner and the tech, I installed the level sensor myself since the whole radiator tank and shroud was out of the car. I just got another low coolant message about 4 days ago after parking and shutting off the car. I opened the hood and wiggled the electrical connector a bit to ensure it had good contact. No messages since (although the car hasn't been driven for about a week now because I need to replace the brakes!). My advice: pull off the electrical connector, make sure that the level sensor on the tank itself is angled toward the firewall enough that the wires entering the connector are not pushed up against the frame rail, as the rail is very close to the connector and wiring to the level sensor (why did BMW use such a long connector for those small pins on the sensor?!). Over time, it seems, the vibration of the engine can either wear through the insulation on the wiring and ground out on the frame rail, causing the low coolant message to occur. Once you move the outer end of the connector far enough north (toward the firewall), and shield up the wiring to the connector itself, you should see a decrease in number or elimination of this message. Also, while the connector is off, ensure that the contacts on it are tight (small enough diameter) so that it will maintain good contact with the sensor when it is connected. There is only a small plastic clip on the wiring connector that holds it onto the sensor and that seems to get bent too far down over time and thus no longer clip the connector tightly to the sensor. YMMV, Brian build 8/95 On 3/14/06, Jamie Howton <jhowton@gmail.com> wrote: > > Date: Tue, 14 Mar 2006 10:06:12 -0600 > From: "Jamie Howton" <jhowton@gmail.com> > Subject: Re: [E36M3] check coolant message > > On 3/14/06, Mark D <mdlkml@atari-source.com> wrote: > > Wiring issues perhaps? > > That's what i am suspecting on mine. Personally, I would just get the stuff from Bimmerworld. Their prices are very competitive (off by + or - 2%) plus James is a great guy to work with. I used to buy measly spark plugs, hoses etc. but when my car needed some tuning at Sebring, James remembered me took out time driving and fine tuning my car. All of that for nothing but a Redbull and Vodka over dinner. To me there is intrinsic value in that purchase itself. A.L. Regardless, they are charging a premium of $70 for something that has a true market value of ~28 bucks. How reasonable is that? Besides they are already getting close to a grand of my dollars in that I need their proprietary programming and turbine fluid both of which I feel are sunk costs and reasonable to pay the proprietary price. To charge me more than double for simple mass-produced bosch injectors that aren't anything special is downright greedy!!! 250% markup, yeah that's real fair!
