Seriously, it's $70. They're in business to make money. -------------- Original message -------------- From: "Patrick Goss - PA" <Patrick.Goss@GMACM.COM> > Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2006 08:29:36 -0600 > From: "Patrick Goss - PA" > Subject: RE: [e36m3] RE: [E36M3] RE: Fuel Injectors used with AA supercharger > > Wouldn't mind that, as you are correct that even with buying them from > AA I am still ahead financially except I have no warranty, no guarantee, > which in the world of FI is super coin. > > Regardless, they are charging a premium of $70 for something that has a > true market value of ~28 bucks. I'm not sure when the switch was made, but somewhere between 1995 and 1998 the plastic spring perches grew to a loose slip fit with the ID of the spring. Zip ties will not work on my car, not even close. This route was so much easier. So much so, I would go this way on a '95 as well. Just mount the return spring prior to the switch bracket, not afterwards. Although, my switch bracket had two 10mm bolts. It's amazing all the little changes on these cars from year to year. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Forgeddabout the zip-ties. Instead - remove the switch bracket (1 10mm bolt) - Then the pedal can be moved up enough so the spring simply goes right back in position. Reinstall the switch bracket wilst pushing the pedal down enough so the bracket clears. Piece'a'cake. Sorta. That's how I did mine after futzing (tech-term) with the damn spring and the plastic perches and tie-wraps and my bench-vice for about 30 minutes and just getting frustrated. Once I figured out the switch plate was all that was holding it from moving up enough to get the spring in.. it took about 2 minutes to do. Really much easier - and safer (I had one spring perch go shooting past my head at one point.. as they say.. could'a taken an eye out..) Best, Don >Don, > Bingo! Worked like a charm. #6. clutch kit for street driven M3? - from Mel Silva
Top
Date: Thu, 16 Mar 2006 06:38:21 -0600 From: Mel Silva <melsilva@mindspring.com> Subject: clutch kit for street driven M3? I'm in a bit of a quandary here. I know I need to replace my clutch soon, it's starting to howl if I slip the clutch at all, but still clamps completely if fully engaged. Plus the throw-out bearing has seen its fair share of abuse from stop-and-go commute traffic and it is starting to rattle a bit at idle. So the question is; do I replace the clutch with Sachs replacement parts, or go for something a little more 'sporty'? I have long considered the lightened flywheels from UUC and Rogue, but they seem a bit out of reach financially at the moment (at least I'm not still unemployed!). I'm sure I could get "opinions" on Bimmerforums, but I trust this group to be a bit more sane and realistic (just a bit). What is the right option for me; Stock replacement or "flux capacitor"? Mel, A lightweight flywheel transforms the feel of the car as far as first and second gear acceleration and heel-toe downshifts go. The engine seems to rev much more easily. For street use (and track use too from my experience) the stock Sachs clutch works just fine, unless you are making major HP of course. Regards -- Jamie Howton 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL

I did place an order for Bilsteins and since it wasn't going to be shipped until tomorrow (one week after my order) :( I cancelled the order. I had Monroes in mind and did a few 'froogle' searches. Here is the scoop: Ordered it online from www.autobarn.com (best price so far) Ready for this? $304 shipped for 2 struts and 2 dampers. Not done yet. Check out the link below for $50 rebate: http://www.monroe.com/promo/documents/spring_06/Monroe90WEB.pdf All in all for $254 I have a set of brand spanking new struts/dampers shipped to my door which comes with lifetime warranty and is matched for the factory springs (and is 60% less than Bilstein Sports). How cool is that? Ahmad PS: Thanks Gary Gray (AH Sidekick).
