I think extreme conditions caused my reservoir to leak down to the *just* touching the dipstick point. Doesn't seem to leak anymore. Gee Jason, thanks for the public criticism about my attitude. Call it whatever you want, I stand by my comments about my method to flush the ATF from the power steering. I consider it more effective and less wasteful than the "turkey baster" method. YMMV and to each their own. Besides, I haven't been receiving my royalty checks for participating on this list lately so that isn't making me too happy either... ;-) Regards, Rich - refuses to use the new cover sheet on my TPS report and active member on the E36M3 Digest for ~7 years now...

Try looking under "318". Foglights were options on the 318, whereas they were standard on the 6-cyl 3-series & M3s. So the covers would only be "available" for a 318. I guess I prefer my method where one quart or a bit more would essentially replace all the fluid. Although simplified, what Paul fails to mention which is fairly important is that he had to disconnect something to allow the old fluid to be pushed out (typically the return line that attaches to the reservoir) and to catch the old fluid. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. I have gotten air into the system before, it quickly works its way out and I don't believe there is any detriment, it isn't like the pump will cavitate or you would lose steering control, the air bubbles are generally small and work their way out quickly. Sorry I misunderstood your original post. Regards, Rich On 4/13/06, Paul L Fisher <bmw@paul-fisher.com> wrote: > > You are correct. On my home computer I have a procedure for helping bleed the system from one of my mechanics from when I changed the P/S pump. I'll try to post it in the next day or two. Jim Bassett
