I just had my windshield replaced by the same company as last time, and that had previously used PPG, which seemed more resistant than the Sekurit windshield from the factory. I've found that it's an Australian company, but that's about all I've found so far. Doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things... Just curious for the sake of being curious. ;) Jonathan L.

I bought it off someone who was going the 540 MAF route strictly as a spare (Eilenberger's Law of Parts - you never need what you have..) and since I sold the E36/M3, I no longer need it. I'm into it $30. Best offer gets it (+shipping, which shouldn't be too much it's light.) And if anyone wants to come and get it - I have the radiator I took out of my M3 - which was in good condition - I replaced it proactively as preventative maintenance. Free if you come get it.. Oh - E36 Haynes manual - $5 + shipping. IMHO it is a POS, but there were one or two instances where it came in handy.. #4. Rogue Engineering Finned Diff Cover (Part 2) - from Neil Maller
Top
Date: Mon, 17 Apr 2006 22:59:21 -0400 From: Neil Maller <neil.maller@gte.net> Subject: Rogue Engineering Finned Diff Cover (Part 2) (Continued from Part 1) I installed the cover while I had the back end partially torn down anyway (see earlier Rogue ARCA installation post). I saw no good reason to remove the main/half shafts and take the diff out entirely and so installed the cover with the diff unbolted but still in the car. A little finagling and a good selection of tools is needed. A third or fourth hand would have helped to juggle the new cover, the paper gasket, the bolts and the tools, but I made do. I did carefully clean the mating surfaces with brake cleaner, used the new paper gasket supplied by RE, and also used a bead of Curil-T to help prevent leaks. That said, installation is straightforward and the results are pleasing. There's some loss of ground clearance, but nothing to worry too much about. However you can no longer jack the car from directly behind without first doing so from the sides to get clearance. I didn't install a temperature sensor, but it seems pretty obvious that between the cooling fins and the extra oil capacity there's got to be a major improvement. I just ran a 3-day track weekend and have no diff cover leaks, so apparently that part went fine too. Pro - Doubles final drive oil capacity, adds cooling fins - Much less expensive than an eventual new diff Cons - Slight loss in ground clearance - Not much else I can think of Neil 96 M3

#5. Rogue Engineering Finned Diff Cover (Part 1) - from Neil Maller

Date: Mon, 17 Apr 2006 22:59:18 -0400 From: Neil Maller <neil.maller@gte.net> Subject: Rogue Engineering Finned Diff Cover (Part 1) (The original post for this one also vanished without trace, so again I'm splitting it into two.) -------- A while back we had a thread asking how long everyone planned to keep their E36 M3's. I was one of those who answered "forever," which explains why I've been doing some longevity upgrades (such as adding an engine oil cooler last year). Our cars are also known to run very high final drive oil temperatures under track conditions, reportedly as high as 300F. Remember when PTG first started racing the M3 and had to pillage street cars at the track to get replacement diffs? Since a limited slip diff is expensive to replace or repair I've long wanted to install list sponsor Rogue Engineering's high capacity finned cover, see: <http://www.rogueengineering.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_ Code=DC_E36&Category_Code=DC> and I finally bought one. Cost was $425. This not only adds cooling fins, but also doubles oil capacity to about 3 qts, all of which can only be good for reducing temperature. It's a decently made sand-cast aluminum cover, nicely machined with normal ports for fill, drain and speed pickup, plus an additional threaded hole for a temperature sensor or a supplied plug. New stock mounting bushings are already pressed into the mounting ears. (Installation notes and summary continued in Part 2.) Neil 96 M3

Spherical bearings are forbidden in those classes. Mark, What makes you think that this is legal in BMW CCA Stock class?? Stock Class Rule 2A " .any suspension component that is not adjustable from the factory or by factory approved service manual procedures may not be adjusted" I've seen 'em and I haven't protested. Yet. As long as I beat the guys who have 'em I don't care. It's so much more fun to constantly be catching the tail as it wants to come around than it is to run proper camber in the rear. #10. RE: [E36M3] FS: 96' M3 Exhaust, Springs/Shocks, Sway Bars (now Porsche story - long) - from Tom, Steven

Sharp eye though it's not a Cayman. I just got an 06' 997S. Yes I made the switch to P-car land sorry to say. The thought process was that my 96' M3 was 10 yrs old w/ 92k on the clock. Fairly low mileage but was going to start needing some work. I tried figuring out what would be the next logical step to another sports car. All of the Japanese rocket stuff was out. I looked at an M5 or the new M6 but didn't want the size or the weight. Audi's are nice but I would never spend the money on one. The new M3 was not coming out for another year. What other choices were there? So I test drove a 997S and Cayman. The Cayman was nice and handled well but speed wise felt exactly like my M3. Understand that I had the Eurosport/JimC Cam Kit w/ 245rwhp. The power build up on the Cayman just felt too similar to my M3. And if I was going to spend that much money on a car, I wanted to be impressed. So I test drove the 997S. Whoa! This thing's a beast! It was very effortless in the way it made power. I honestly was awed and impressed. Handling was quite a bit different and sets up a little funny in corners. I don't imagine myself trail braking all too much anymore but the overall speed at which I can take corners is still greater. So I started looking for a 997S. I ended up picking up a 2006 997S w/ 2500 miles with a ton of options. I also pushed to get the Certified Pre Owned so I can get the 6yr/100k warranty too. I love the car. It also has the PCCB brakes which are huge $$$$ option. The beautiful thing is that the brakes don't dust! So from the PCCB brakes to the leather dash, I love the car. steve -----Original Message----- From: M540 [mailto:m540@bellsouth.net] Sent: Sunday, April 16, 2006 4:19 PM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] FS: 96' M3 Exhaust, Springs/Shocks, Sway Bars Date: Sun, 16 Apr 2006 19:13:00 -0400 From: "M540" <m540@bellsouth.net> Subject: [E36M3] FS: 96' M3 Exhaust, Springs/Shocks, Sway Bars Steve, Is that a Cayman hiding behind your muffler?
