Sharp eye though it's not a Cayman. I just got an 06' 997S. Yes I made the switch to P-car land sorry to say. The thought process was that my 96' M3 was 10 yrs old w/ 92k on the clock. Fairly low mileage but was going to start needing some work. I tried figuring out what would be the next logical step to another sports car. All of the Japanese rocket stuff was out. I looked at an M5 or the new M6 but didn't want the size or the weight. Audi's are nice but I would never spend the money on one. The new M3 was not coming out for another year. What other choices were there? So I test drove a 997S and Cayman. The Cayman was nice and handled well but speed wise felt exactly like my M3. Understand that I had the Eurosport/JimC Cam Kit w/ 245rwhp. The power build up on the Cayman just felt too similar to my M3. And if I was going to spend that much money on a car, I wanted to be impressed. So I test drove the 997S. Whoa! This thing's a beast! It was very effortless in the way it made power. I honestly was awed and impressed. Handling was quite a bit different and sets up a little funny in corners. I don't imagine myself trail braking all too much anymore but the overall speed at which I can take corners is still greater. So I started looking for a 997S. I ended up picking up a 2006 997S w/ 2500 miles with a ton of options. I also pushed to get the Certified Pre Owned so I can get the 6yr/100k warranty too. I love the car. It also has the PCCB brakes which are huge $$$$ option. The beautiful thing is that the brakes don't dust! So from the PCCB brakes to the leather dash, I love the car. steve -----Original Message----- From: M540 [mailto:m540@bellsouth.net] Sent: Sunday, April 16, 2006 4:19 PM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] FS: 96' M3 Exhaust, Springs/Shocks, Sway Bars Date: Sun, 16 Apr 2006 19:13:00 -0400 From: "M540" <m540@bellsouth.net> Subject: [E36M3] FS: 96' M3 Exhaust, Springs/Shocks, Sway Bars Steve, Is that a Cayman hiding behind your muffler? #10. RE: [E36M3] FS: 96' M3 Exhaust, Springs/Shocks, Sway Bars (now Porsche story - long) - from Tom, Steven

Seems like a well spent $4k upgrade. I also like the SMG option. I can't wait for Porsche to come out with their DSG version. I never drove the comp package but have driven E46 M3's in both manual and SMG. In the end, I knew that the E90 M3 was coming out shortly and would really like to have the V8 even though it breaks a bit of heritage with the 2 extra cylinders. If the E90 M3 was out, I would have taken a solid look at it. As for the RS4, nice car, prefer BMW's. It seems that Audi's have always gone a softer route than the BMW. The BMW's feel more like a driver's car to me than the Audi. One of the things I really like about this 997 is the fact that it retains that driver type feel. Sure there's too many buttons on the center console but the dash wraps around you similar to the E36's. If you look at the new 5 and 3 the dash's are starting to get less driver orientated. I believe they are doing this to get the passenger involved in the controls. I don't necessarily that like the idea. And the i-drive, whoa! steve -----Original Message----- From: Scott Stiles [mailto:stiles_s@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, April 18, 2006 2:39 PM To: E36M3 Subject: RE: [E36M3] FS: 96' M3 Exhaust, Springs/Shocks, Sway Bars (now Porsche story - long) Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2006 14:33:39 -0700 From: "Scott Stiles" <stiles_s@hotmail.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] FS: 96' M3 Exhaust, Springs/Shocks, Sway Bars (now Porsche story - long) Congratulations!
