Get the two pump kit and install it - everything there and the sale price is lower than you could buy the pumps for without having to dig for hardware. I second that. And if you don't get the float arm oriented just right it'll hang up on the tank wall and give you false readings. I performed the "Kalman Modification," see Andrew's excellent write-up at: http://www.pumpkininc.com/content/doc/guide/ag-8.pdf Note that his self-designed setup uses twin fuel pumps, feeds and returns. Bimmerworld's uses the second pump for fuel transfer from one tank half to the other, replacing the siphon. Either works, just the plumbing layout differs. I also found that some of the fuel hoses tended to kink, especially on the driver side where the ports on the new pump point in the wrong direction. I bought suitably sized springs at the hardware store and inserted them in those hoses to keep the ID open. Neil 96 M3

Take a pair of pliers and grab it. There is a 'v' notch on the clip inside the holder. Turn at an angle to get the part of the 'v' out and then keep turning. Done! That may not be all there is to it: there was also a change in tank design which seems to affect fuel pickup. E36 cars up to model year 95 have a 62 litre tank, then starting in 96 the tank went to 65 litres. The newer version has more starvation problems. What I can say for sure is that the BW dual pump kit, which I've been running since mid-2003, takes care of the issue completely. Neil 96 M3
