I don't want to do anything stupid and damage the strut. When I am hitting the nut with an impact wrench, (short quick bursts), the shaft just wants to spin...Thanks for any tips. Still trying to solve a loud rattling sound in the left front. How do I check the front control arm bushings and ball joints to see if they are the culprit? I tightened the heck out of the sway bar end links and tightened the top nut with an impact wrench. The rattling was gone for about 5 miles of city driving then it came back...

I had 131K on my '93 325 when I sold the car with the original radiator and hoses two years ago. The M3 and 325 use the same radiator. *shrug* It was on its third water pump and thermostat, however. Hand tighten those bad boys all the delicate adjustment crap is up top (I believe). I double nut the top to make sure they don't loosen up. Hold the shaft somewhere that isn't going to damage the area that goes inside the strut insert, probably the best way is to pull the struts and do it on your work bench. -Carlos.

I'll pull the bump stop down and carefully grab the top of the shaft with a strap wrench or something and torque them right on my work bench.. M3 Exhaust: $125 + shipping. Yes it has the larger tubing. I took it off around 55k miles. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b170/stom_m3/IMG_6676.jpg M3 Sway bars, bushings and links: $75 + shipping. I replaced these at the same time as the suspension. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b170/stom_m3/IMG_6677.jpg Let me know if you are interested. steve

Date: Wed, 26 Apr 2006 14:00:18 -0400 From: "Tom Yee" <tomgsr@hotmail.com> Subject: larger front splitters Dear E36 M3 fans: Has anyone fabricated or installed a deeper front splitter than the factory piece? I get a bit of lift at speed (yes, I know gas is $$$ and speed eats gas) and wondered about a deeper splitter. I don't really want to scrape roadkill, I just want maybe another inch of depth/extension. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Tom Yee

Grassroots did a test on the front splitter/extension and they found that under 3.5 it did not provide enough down force, and over 3.5 no gain...I am making one for my car. I don't want to spend a lot on something I will more than likely kill a few times ;-) I figure I can make one for under 100 bucks out of Basla wood and fiberglass...Should be light and fairly durable for track use..And I can make a few spares easily.. Gary Soon to be boosting...going into withdrawls....

Date: Wed, 26 Apr 2006 13:38:34 -0700 From: Kent Shephard <Kents@kls-consulting.com> Subject: Tire Fitment Hi, I'm curious about 18" tire fitment. What size have people with 18" wheels been able to fit? Will a 245/40 or 255/40 fit in the rear. Will a 235/40 fit in the front? I'm looking a Dunlop FM901 not that it matters a lot. Thanks, Kent
