I have Koni DA coilovers in front but I still run 15 millimeter spacers to add track: no problem with tire rubbing. I'm running 4 18x9 BBS RCJ wheels, with Yoko Advan Neova's in a 265/35-18 size. No mods to the front fenders, and I've rolled the rear. But that takes a LOT of camber to clear the fenders (front and rear). Most street users would not be happy. But I autox the car a lot, and I see no problem driving to work with that setup. For most people, 255's would make more sense. Even with 255's, you probably need to roll the rear fenders. But the ride/height and alignment wouldn't be as critical as with the 265's. A splitter is the item that extends outward parallel to the ground. I think that the splitter could also be called a spoiler. An air dam would, hopefully, lessen the amount of air that flows under the vehicle. A splitter would actually create downforce by pulling the car towards the ground, like an inverted wing or sorts. Was this 3.5 inches on a particular type of vehicle? I wouldn't think that GRM would make a blanket statement, like 3.5 is the optimal depth for a spoiler. It rubbed badly on the fender liner up front just going over light bumps. I currently have 245/35 Micheline PS2's, no fitment problems, but major wallet lightening problems... Same clearance with Bridgestone SO3's and Michelin PS2's. This clearance may depend on your suspension setup as well. The advantage is being able to rotate tires, but I'd like more tire back there myself. The front rubbed the fender and liner..I actually destroyed a tire at RA..I forgot to roll the front..dupp...The back has plenty of room rolled. I bet I could get 255's back there no problem. I cut the liner in half at the top and only run the back half of the liner to keep rocks from hitting the inside rear of the fender...Works good so far.. My long term set up is to run 255 or 275 front and rear with flared fenders and 18x10.5 wheels front and rear. I will need all the tire I can in the rear being turbocharged. Gary

In general terms I can tell you what will work without the need to use spacers up front. Wheel offset is most important, for an 18x8.5 wheel you need an et of 38mm. This will allow most 245x35x18 tires. You may need to roll the rear fender well, but that's easy. You need to watch tire diameter, too big and you'll rub against the top of the strut hat. I can answer more questions as you think of them. regards, Bob Gill 97 ///M3 coupe (sponsored by WCC & JT-Designs) Philly Region SCCA 2005 Philly Region BSP Champion

Right now I have 225/40 and that is waaaayyyy to narrow. While it worked fine, wider is definitely better in this case. It seems that a 245/40 is too tall. A 245/35 is too rough on my wallet. I am running ET 38/40ish offset. I'll have to look at a spare wheel in my garage to confirm. Anyway, I'll be ordering the 235/40 tires for all four corners. Thanks, Kent
