The race car has new-ish coils, but they were replaced as part of the search for a "cutting-out" problem with the car. Which turned out to merely be a loose ground. Grrr. :-) Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44 JP ************************************************* Please help support the E36M3 list by visiting our sponsors: Bimmerworld http://www.bimmerworld.com Turner Motorsport http://www.turnermotorsport.com Eurosport High Performance http://www.eurosporthighperformance.com Rogue Engineering http://www.rogueengineering.com Treehouse Racing http://www.treehouseracing.com Elephant Motorsports Inc. http://www.elephantmotorsports.com DIGEST INFORMATION: http://www.bmw-m.net/resources/digest_info.htm *************************************************

IIRC I've seen a resitance spec for those beasties but I don't remember it off the top of my head. If the boots look good (aren't cracked, soaked in oil, etc etc) and meet the mystery resistance spec I'd not worry about it. Marco -----Original Message----- From: Andrej Dolenc [mailto:adolenc@erols.com] Sent: Monday, May 01, 2006 6:28 AM To: E36M3 Subject: [e36m3] [E36M3] Replace Spark Plug Connectors? Gruppe, I'm slowly working my way through replacing a pile of filters and tidbits on my car. Going in and replacing the spark plugs as well. One of the junk mail flyers I received in the mail recommends replacing the spark plug connectors, the elephant trunk from the ignition coil to the plug itself. I've done plug changes but to date have not replaced these connectors and the car still runs just fine. The car does have 140K miles on it, so now I'm wondering whether there is any wisdom in replacing these as preventative maintenance. Or whether it's just self serving propaganda on their part. What say you? Is anyone running this set-up? Hi Juan, I run a similar setup for autox'ing. My tires are Hoosier Wet Radials size 245x35x18 which are quite wide for a 245 tire. My rear fenders are rolled too. Wheels are family cousins to yours (BBS RGR 18x8.5 et38). No rubbing, no spacers, with normal camber for street. It's ever so close in the front but works and I'm on Koni SA's with OEM springs. Use the TireRack spec pages to compare the actual demensions of the Hoosier versus the PS2. I ran into a second problem in that the Sir tools fixture horseshoe part did not fit around the bearing housing so I didn't see much point in continuing. Have you noticed the same issue? (Mines a 99 E36 M3) I called Sir and they said that they heard of that problem but didn't really have a solution other than grinding it out bigger. They gave me a good deal on another horseshoe part so I'd have one that wasn't ground up for future use. I don't think you can mushroom the spindle end, at least not easily. I asked a technician friend experienced in such things and he offered to loan me his impact hammer next time I try it. I also have a three legged puller that bolts on with the lug screws, but the same guy told me that I'd probably break the puller before the axle would let go. Got the Sir Tool B90 kit. Axle nut is off. Brakes are removed. Half shaft is free from the diff. I'm having difficulty getting the axle stub out of the control arm. I've sprayed PB blaster and struck it many times with a hand sledge and brass drift...nothing. I tried a large 3 leg puller on the hub to press the axle out. The puller popped off on two attempts...also worried about mushrooming the hub. Any tips? I'm letting the PB Blaster work overnight hoping this will help.

I have 18 x 8.5 BBS RK's on the street beast. Running 245 40 18's. They're a bit too tall but hundreds cheaper than 35 profile. Fenders rolled pretty good, not rad Treehouse style just standard rolling plus a little. I have 18mm spacers to clear the THR coilovers, i don't need 18mm, I just had them laying around. Prolly get away with 10-15mm . The 245's I run (Yoko ES100) are pretty wide and will rub unless you are ready to ride Rally style or mod the inner fender some. But they have such nice grip and stability. Date: Mon, 1 May 2006 18:47:53 -0700 From: "FranKirsten" <frankirsten@msn.com> Subject: Taking up the Cello or 1996 M3 exhaust Today a UPS man visited my house while I was at work and my wife answered the door. "I have a large delivery" said the UPS Man while he strained to get the box out of the truck. Wife, not remembering what I told her would arrive today asked "What on earth can that be? This must be for my husband." She was looking a very large strange shaped form of boxes. "I don't know, maybe your husband has taken up the Cello." Quipped the UPS Man. Well, I received my 1996 M3 muffler from Steve as he advertised for sale on this forum. It was packaged very well, and is in excellent shape. The muffler was purchased last week and delivered in 3 business days. I only wish I could get parts from vendors this fast. Thank you very much Steve! Cordially, Frank

I was thinking 600 bucks for the front and rear seats...Since I hacked holes in the sides for my rollbar ;-) I recolored them last summer so they look okay...not perfect, no holes but they do have some wear spots... If you know anyone in need of some cheap vaders send them my way, they are manual seats. thanks Gary
