The DMV is completely rediculous at this point. Im complaining because of the fact I passed....with everything still on it that I failed for previous times. Ive failed for: Vinyl over top of windshield, Shiftknob without gear select pattern, tinted turn signal lamps, radar detector in windshield, aluminum pedals. All of those things were still on the car when I took it through this time in addition to my momo steering wheel(which Ive taken off in the past for inspection) and a glaring airbag light. Im glad I dont have to worry about failing again for another 2 yrs but what can I do to ensure I pass again for everything they passed me for this time yet failed before? That's probably a lot easier than the luck method that you currently appear to be employing. I'm not saying that I think the items that are required make much sense, but if that's the rules, that's the rules. I know people that put a stock engine in their car to pass the smog test here in CA, then change back to their performance engine until the next inspection is required. Im sorry but if someone doesnt know how to drive a stick without a pattern on the knob, they shouldnt be in my car. I wasnt using the luck method, Im saying they failed me for these things in the past but passed me with them now. Obviously, they were giving me a hard time because they wanted to. It's social engineering and has little or no impact on safety. Years ago (like, 20+ years ago) the Florida governor spent several hours (IIRC) in line at a state inspection station. They were all closed shortly thereafter. >Date: Sun, 21 May 2006 15:53:57 -0400 >From: "Alex Demsky" <hyper_m3@hotmail.com> >Subject: Re: [E36M3] Passed inspection > >Thing is, I shouldnt have failed for the tinted corners (they arent >dark enough), aluminum pedals (OEM E46), vinyl strip (just barely >below the window marking).
