Date: Mon, 22 May 2006 12:05:23 -0400 From: Chris Gant <cgant@cox.net> Subject: Subject: 95 M3 won't crank Sounds a lot like a cracked head or blown headgasket. If you're getting water into the combustion chamber and then try to crank it, nothing will happen due to hydo lock, but once the water has a chance to leak back out, through the exhaust valves, it will turn over and start right up. Tell-tale sign is white smoke from the exhaust, and of course losing coolant. I hope is just a bad connection somewhere though. It's a daily driver, with 2-3 track days per year and the occasional auto-x. I like them very much as a "compromise" pad. They don't have the initial bite that the OEM's have, but dust a hell of a lot less, don't squeal, and hold up very well at the track (I'm a B student). I would imagine that the compound might be too soft for use on a full-time track car, but hey. My only regret is not putting them on the wife's E39 with their hell-to-clean BBS sport wheels instead of the graphite-heavy OEM pads. Oh, the humanity! Sorry, no first-hand knowledge on the ceramics.

It likely wouldn't even sell. You might as well donate it to charity, but then again, they wouldn't take it in such disrepair. kidding. There's no reason to suspect hydrolock. Your clue that it does not click when the key is turned suggests it's either a bad connection on the battery, starter, or a bad ground (check engine bay ground strap) Jon ______________________________________________ Jon Siccardi - DM #052 TreehouseRacing.com M50conversion.com 615.333.9118 ______________________________________________ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Gant" <cgant@cox.net> To: "E36M3" <e36m3@bmw-m.net> Sent: Monday, May 22, 2006 11:15 AM Subject: [E36M3] Subject: 95 M3 won't crank > Date: Mon, 22 May 2006 12:05:23 -0400 > From: Chris Gant <cgant@cox.net> > Subject: Subject: 95 M3 won't crank > > Sounds a lot like a cracked head or blown headgasket. Apparently one of the injectors stuck and flooded the cylinder when it was off. I removed all the plugs to see what was causing the problem, turned it over, and shot gasoline across the garage bay. Thank god my wife's car was out. It has never recurred but trying to crank when hydrolocked did break the porcelin on the plug.
