I've been lusting after this car for years. Nice to > finally realise a dream! Now I need to be careful about not falling into > the > bottomless money pit of mods. :-) Yeah, ummm, good luck with that :-) > My particular car is missing the undertray. Just a point of information: The M3 Sedans utilized the smaller, "regular" E36 undertray, NOT the bigger, more-of-an-aerodynamic-device-that-always-rips-off one that the M3 Coupes used. Or did you possibly link to the wrong thread? Regards, Rich - cornfuzzled... '95 M3 - BBS RC track wheels...just say no to Kosei.

Aluminum alloys have a finite life in service, you may be at the end of yours. Can you recall hitting something with just the one? >> I don't actually recall hitting anything hard ever with these wheels. I've had them for about a year and four months, so I'd hate to think that's all they're worth. My RKs lasted several years, and I only sold them because of how ugly they were getting. ;) Jonathan L.

I too had a small spot develop. I had used POR 15, which we used at the body shop (http://tinyurl.com/nb7xp). Good results, easy to use and has lasted for a few years now. -Steve 99 M3

#5. 98 M3 Extended crank times - from Avedis, Alexander (US SSA)

Date: Mon, 22 May 2006 17:43:28 -0400 From: "Avedis, Alexander (US SSA)" <alexander.avedis@baesystems.com> Subject: 98 M3 Extended crank times Recently my 98 M3/4 requires long crank times prior to starting for the first start of the day. If you stop cranking after say 4 seconds and go to restart, it will catch almost immediately like it used to. Once started, it always starts immediately...so far [cold or hot]. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions? Spark plugs? Idle motor? Fuel filter was replaced. Is there a fuel check valve or accumulator I should be looking at? Thanks for the assistance. #9. Catalyst Efficiency Bank 1 Code - from Raza Uddin
Top
Date: Tue, 23 May 2006 14:46:03 -0700 From: "Raza Uddin" <raza.uddin@gmail.com> Subject: Catalyst Efficiency Bank 1 Code I had the CEL pop up for the catalyst efficiency Bank1 (cyl 1-3) code (E9 for Peake readers) twice in the past few weeks. The car is a 1998 sedan with 120K miles. From my research it looks like either my cat or some O2 sensors are up for replacement. What makes this urgent is that I have to renew my registration and need to get smogged this year. I'd chance it with my current cats, but with the recent illumination rate of my CEL, I'm too afraid of it coming on at the worse moment and failing smog. Most people I have talked to think it is the O2 sensors. The previous owner had a few CEL lights over a few months which the dealer fixed by replacing a few O2 sensors. Which ones, I'm not sure. I think it is the cat mainly because I had 2 somewhat recent exhaust hanger failures. Once at Thunderhill (while I was on track) and then on the way from Berkeley to Monterey, of which I only had a chance to fix when I hit Monterey. I've heard the exhaust hanging (even my lighter, aftermarket Dinan unit) from only the cat hangers places an enormous amount of stress on the cats and could lead to failure. Given my experience, I'm expecting the worse for the cat. How have people gone about replacing the cat in CA? Bimmerworld sells a replacement cat, but it is not 50-state legal, and I dread to think what a new cat from the dealer costs. Are used cats from a lower mileage car an option? I'm taking my car to Ramon at Bavarian Motorsport on Friday, I also pick his brain. Maybe we can test the O2 sensors. Thanks in advance! Drive Safely, Raza
